Power down any S1 units and shut down the S1 controller until you get the ROAM 2 installed.
The Roam 2 can only operate on the Sonos App (aka S2) and will not be seen by the S1 controller.
The Play 5 (Gen 1) is only compatible with the S1 controller and will not be seen by the Sonos App

Log into your on-line account, click on the profile icon and look under “System”. There you will see all Sonos registered to you and the generation; if applicable.

Thank you! Confirmed that I have the play:5 gen2 - compatible! Somehow I still get that message when trying to connect from the s2 controller that it is a s1 system
If you downgraded any Sonos products to work on S1 you will have to factory reset those products to get them to be recognized as S2 again.
Also ( after the above) delete the S1 and S2 apps from your device and reinstall S2.
