Hello @T-S, welcome back!
What was the idea behind this change?
No change has been made in the functionality and interface of S1 Sonos App since the S1/S2 split in August 2020.
It’s not like this on iPhone.
Bear in mind that the Sonos App layout/interface is not the same between smartphones and tablets due to the different screen size.
Thank you for the feedback, it is much appreciated.
Any change in layout may be due to a change in iPadOS version, rather than an actual design change in the Sonos app.
There was a change in layout in the new Sonos app when the same app version was viewed between iPadOS 17 and 18.
Surely Sonos monitors impact of iOS changes and adjust the code accordingly to keep the UI consistent? Having the menu jump to the top and leaving a blank space at the bottom is inconsistent. It has not looked like this since 2020 on iPad.
Interestingly, I found this right now, if I drag the black bottom bar (above the blank field in the browse page - lower image) slowly upwards, the ”missing” old menu reappears! But it doesn’t work since as soon as I release the black bar the menu is gone again. This is obviously a UI bug and nothing else. If it’s due to iOS changes, who knows, but iOS changes from time to time and then code that’s obsolete needs to be updated. Like this.
