I rename it over and over, yet it always reverts. I rename it in the system settings for that speaker under the old name to the new name. Looks OK for awhile.
Then...THE HORROR! It’s back! Again and again and again and again and again.

+19Just tried renaming a Beam 2 speaker using the IOS app. Worked OK. Can you describe the issue in more detail. Are you Apple or Android? What model speaker was the one you tried the name change on? So you’re saying the new name sticks for a while then reverts back to the old name? Does the speaker take updates OK? Do you have other Sonos devices? Can you change their names?
Traditionally, this is representative of the speaker being named in a home control app, like Apple’s HomeKit. Not sure why that takes precedence over the Sonos naming, but I’m sure there is some ‘code requirements’ reason.
I’d definitely check any other apps that might have access to your speakers. So far, there’s been no proven case that it was a Sonos issue…which isn’t to say it isn’t possible, just extremely unlikely.
Voice control Apps are known for this stunt.
+19When I changed the name of my Beam as a test the Alexa app picked up on the new name. Maybe Apple Home is different.
I haven’t figured out all the details, but all of the past instances of this that I can remember are from Apple (iOS) or Google (Android), not Amazon. Not sure I know what the difference is, going to have to consider that.
