Radio.net has been removed as a Sonos service at their request. This was an important service for U.K. listeners as it gave access to non U.K. stations. I think this leaves us with just my tuner allowing us in the UK access to the world since Tunein/Sonos have blocked non U.K. streams. My tuner blocks access on other platforms - are there any other options for UK listeners ?

I suspect It was a regulatory change initiated by Sony, Warner and other money grabbing corporates so RAdio.net and Tune in can no longer play overseas channels. It is not something Sonos has control over anyway. :(

This has been a HUGE disappointment for me. I’ve lost 85% of my favorite stations and now I can only listen to platforms that have advertising. I wish I could subscribe to radio.net’s service and get it on my Sonos but it doesn’t look like that’s possible.
For me, Sonos was a way to listen to music around my house but with this and the ever ending changes to the streaming services, I am getting close to pulling the plug on Sonos altogether.

So, radio.net is removed at the request of radio.net, and you are here threatening to dump Sonos? Not a very effective method of pressuring the party responsible to change their mind.

Easy killer, no one is threatening anyone and just for the record you have zero clue why radio.net discontinued its Sonos partnership. Just because Sonos is telling you so doesn’t explain the story.
This is beyond frustrating for someone who has relied on about 30 saved classical music radio stations. Heads should roll, but I don’t know whose. However, there is a work around. If you have the radio.net app on your phone or iPad (requires a minimal annual subscription) you can airplay saved radio stations direct to your Sonos speaker instead of going via the Sonos app. Btw, the Sonos Radio app is totally useless for anyone with a serious knowledge of classical music.
If think the idea Sonos would risk the liability of lying about a partner's action in an official statement on their own website stretches believability. They'd be slapped with a lawsuit faster than you can say call my lawyer. But yeah, go with that.
And I didn't say you threatened anyone. You threatened to dump Sonos, as I stated very clearly.
And a lot of these issues have to do with copyrights, and the ‘authorization’ to distribute the content across international borders.
I spent a couple of years chasing lawyers and playback rights for various songs that we had planned to put in a game, but hadn’t written or owned the music. Talk about a nightmare. The rights were all over the place, especially depending on the age of the songs. And, you tend to forget the easy ones, just because you spend so much time on the hard ones.
The world is changing. Authorization to play various pieces of music (and other content!) in different countries has by no way kept pace with the technology. Frankly, I’m surprised many of these congregation companies like TuneIn and radio.net haven’t been sued by rights holders before this.
I believe there was a successful lawsuit against TuneIn but I see they have now updated their app and introduced a subscription.
I think they’ve always had a subscription option, but that doesn’t necessarily fix the copyright issues of ‘playing’ in other countries.

As far as I can see radio.net is a German company (https://corporate.radio.net/about-us/). Of course this could be about copyright issues in other countries, but since Sonos seems to cater for location based access there would be no need to remove it from Sonos completely - Germany included.

Yes I was referring to that, but I don’t think it was because of Brexit, dumb as that was.
I suggest that you use “my tuner radio station” which is still supported by Sonos. Delete all the radio.net stations and get them through “my tuner”

Thats what I tried doing but unfortunately a lot of radio.net stations are not available on mytuner.
Might be worth reaching out to each individual station, and ask them what aggregation service they’ve chosen to be associated with, now that radio.net is gone. Or at least check their websites to se if it is mentioned. There are many aggregators always competing for exclusivity, and you may also have the option to try , via the information in the FAQ, setting up an internet radio station .
This is terrible as it was the only app I used on my 4 SonosOne devices.
Yea I can stream bluetooth from my phone to my Sonos but that’s an expensive bluetooth speaker at that point with no functionality beyond being a bluetooth speaker.
I don’t know who is at fault, but it sucks for me that’s for sure. Sonos just gets worse and worse (it does, yes it does). Thankfully I have only minimally been burned by this new style of subscription based technology and don’t own a car I have to pay to update and can't drive if the update fails. Yet.
They’re slowly locking us into their walled garden of Google, Amazon, and Spotify owned services. Soon what? Apple buys Sonos and makes it Apple Music only and bricks millions of devices?
This business model is trash and only hurts us, consumers. An MP3 collection, a Network Area Storage Device, and some kind of Chinese made speaker looks like a mighty good alternative at this point. The only option perhaps.
BTW if you have a cached channel streaming to your device you can still stream from Radio.net just fine. They removed the app but they aren’t preventing devices from receiving the streams lol.
