Qobuz Connect support

As a long-time Sonos customer, I want to add my voice to the growing list of users frustrated by the continued lack of Qobuz Connect support.

I chose Qobuz specifically for its search depth, curation, and full-catalogue browsing experience — features that are significantly limited when forced to browse through the Sonos app instead of the native Qobuz app. Being an Android user, I don't even have the AirPlay 2 workaround available to iOS/Mac users, so I'm currently stuck with no good way to use the service I pay for on the hardware I paid for.

This isn't a niche request: Qobuz has offered hi-res streaming on Sonos for years, and Sonos already supports Connect for other partners. The 2024 app update reportedly broke Qobuz integration for months, and two years of community threads on this exact topic have produced no timeline, no update, and seemingly no accountability from either side about who is blocking progress.

As a paying customer of a premium multi-room audio ecosystem, I expect Sonos to prioritize full compatibility with the services its own customers choose to pay for — not just the handful of partners that are most convenient to promote. I'd appreciate an honest update on whether Qobuz Connect is actually being worked on, and if so, when Android users can expect to see it.

Thank you for taking this seriously.

Hello, I've been solving this for a long time - supposedly a problem with .api.....

It remains an issue that has to be solved by Qobuz. Sonos already wrote the API, but doesn’t have access to Qobuz’s code base to add it.

Here’s what you can do to get an understanding of the Sonos/Qobuz Connect situation. I used ChatGPT and received a wealth of information. Type or speak the following question:

  • Is Sonos or Qobuz responsible to create a Connect Function to stream to Sonos speakers directly from the Qobuz app?

You’ll get an answer; but don’t stop there. ChatGPT gives you the ability ask for more information (follow-up question) either by speaking or typing “Yes” and/or “Please do” indicative to the response provided.

I learned this situation is not cut and dry. There are variables to be considered on both sides some of which are self-serving.

While you may agree or disagree with what you uncover the bottom-line is that Sonos/Qobuz have to come to an agreement that is a win/win for both. Sometimes it comes down to setting a priority versus others that move this (Connect: Development/Integration/Implementation) forward without neglecting key priorities essential to the brand.

That’s all I have to say. I have my answer; but I’ll not “cherry-pick” portions that may present a bias one way or the other.

It’s time to remove the blinders, exercise due diligence and pro-actively research the question to arrive at an informed conclusion that suits you. Either way the bashing regarding who’s responsible (if you choose to continue down that path) should be shared equally in the forums of both. It could be a situation where one entity hasn’t received many requests which makes it a lessor priority.

I’m just saying 🤷
