I just updated my app, Sonos 2, tried to add my Music Library and got the same old error 913.  I’m running Sonoma 14.5 on a 2019 MacBook Pro.  I. tried the standard method and just opted for adding the Music Folder which failed (913)…...then I chose the last option where you browse and pointed it right at the music folder, same result.  Failed again, error 913. How hard can this be????

Hi @rosswells127 et al

We believe this issue may have been resolved with today’s firmware (speaker software) patch update. Could anyone affected by this issue please install the latest update and test whether this issue has been resolved? Thank you.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi Corry,

I have upated the firmware via my Windows desktop controller. Now at 16.3.1, Build 80155240.

I can now see & play Imported Playlists from my iTunes library on a Synology NAS.

However, there are still duplicated albums and artist listings.

Thanks for the improvement.

Hi @Corry P ,
I can confirm that 16.3.1 fixed the “Imported Playlist” issue. Thank you for getting this resolved in a timely manner.
Ross.

Hi @bobflips

That is a separate issue that we are also aware of and investigating.

If you subscribe to the following tread, you’ll be informed when it is resolved.

I hope this helps.

I was experiencing this same issue and finally got it resolved.  Maybe my experience will be helpful to someone else.  In addition to timeouts to access Playlists on my iTunes Music Library on my Synology NAS, I also noticed the system appeared to be unstable.  The system playing Pandora would simply stop and I noticed my group of all speakers (I have 5) would be split up and I would have to re-group the speakers or one or more speakers would simply disappear.  I access Sonos using the PC app and apps on 2 iPhones and 2 iPads and, at one point, the app on one of my iPads would crash every time I tried to bring it up.  I finally deleted the app on that iPad and reinstalled it.  At this point, all my issues disappeared and the system is stable!  I can access my iTunes playlists and everything appears to work fine.  It appears that that app on my iPad was causing the instability.  I am still on v16.3 Build 80155014.  Hope this helps someone.

Is 16.3.1 supposed to find playlists in an Apple Music local library file? If it is, then it doesn’t work for me… The Apple Music library file is on the NAS share along with the music. I only see any Apple Music playlists if I export them as an M3U file to the share first…

Yes it is.

I know that others such as @Corry P use M3U files but in my case I have simply copied the file “iTunes Library.xml” onto my Synology NAS and can then see my iTunes Playlists after “Update Music Library Now” within the Sonos app.

Within the Windows iTunes app I have the option (in Edit/Preferences/Advanced) “Share iTunes XML with other applications” turned on.

I hope this helps.

Ross.

I think that may be specific to Windows iTunes. On a Mac, using the Apple Music app (no choice, it became that a while ago) There’s just a big ‘Music Library.musiclibrary’ file, which is on the same NAS share as the music files themselves.

So more specifically, is Sonos supposed to be able to pull Apple playlists out of there automatically?

Any news on the issues with imported playlists? Mine simply have disappeared  from Sonos (app & controller on PC). It is all so tiresome ….:

Same problem here….unexpected error with trying to import playlists when adding my library back in. Once library is added, imported playlists are blank. I’m on 16.3.1 and the problem is there.

I’ve been with Sonos for about 10 years now (back when you needed the bridge to do anything), and while there were some hiccups here and there throughout the years, I’ve never seen such a total cluster**** like this.  Lately it’s been ‘fix one thing, break something that was previously working fine’.  It’s unbelievable that not only that this is happening, but that it’s taking months to fix these things.  This is the first time in these 10 years where I’m really questioning continuing with these products and this company.

Now it’s working.  There was a problem w/ my .itl file in iTunes (it was basically empty...0kb).  I was able to grab a good file from a backup and put it back in the folder and now I have my imported playlists.  My question is, what caused what?  The itl file was fine until updating sonos, and sonos was able to read all songs, albums, etc….everything except the playlists (I got the ‘something went wrong’ error message).  Anyway, if anyone else is still having the problem and has Sonos read from their itunes .itl file, you may want to check if the file is still good.  We didn’t know there was a problem until trying to open itunes and getting a corrupt itunes library message.

The above may work if you’re on iTunes in Windows, but on the Mac iTunes became Apple Music sometime ago and Sonos doesn’t recognise the file Apple Music creates at all…. ☹️
