Pocket Casts plays US adverts in the UK

Hi,

When I play Podcasts via the Pocket Casts Service on my Sonos system I get US adverts but I am in the UK. I have checked my Sonos profile and it says that I am based in the UK.

If I play the same Podcast using the Pocket Casts app on my phone then I get the UK Ads.

Is there any other setting that can be changed to fix this?

Welcome back to the Community!

As your Sonos profile does indeed show you to be in the UK, I recommend that you check your Pocket Casts app for any location setting.

The ads you are supplied with are not related to Sonos in any way, nor is the manner in which they are chosen for you.

If there is no setting in the app (or your account profile with them), I recommend you contact Pocket Casts for support at their webpage.

That’s (probably) up to Pocket Casts. They are passed your locale from the app (assumg your device is set to en-uk or en-gb). However, if using the mobile app, its done from the cloud so that might be confusing things. Have you tried using the desktop app and see if that behaves better?

Hi,

It is the same if I use the desktop app.

The podcast is getting the wrong location from somewhere. I can only assume that it is being passed from Sonos.

Check everywhere Sonos, I recall folks with similar issues but not where they found the problem setting.
