Hello Sonos Team,

First of all, thank you for continuously improving the Sonos experience with the S2 app. I really appreciate the smoother interface and the new features it brings.

However, I noticed that one important feature from the S1 app is no longer available in S2: the ability to play music stored locally on my phone. In S1, I used this frequently to play tracks directly from my device, but in S2 this option has been removed.

I’m not sure why this feature was discontinued, but it was very useful in situations where streaming services are not available, or when I simply want to play my own music library without relying on the internet.

Could Sonos please consider bringing this feature back to the S2 app in a future update? I believe many users like me would greatly appreciate having local playback as an option again.

Thank you for your time and for listening to community feedback.

Best regards,

Here is a list of devices that can receive Airplay if you are using an iPhone.

Sonos has been blocked by both Apple (iOS) and Google (Android) in playing music stored on a device. I suspect both consider an app that uses the mobile device as a drive to be a dangerous precedent. You’d probably need to petition those companies, I suspect Sonos was rather unhappy to be forced into removing that aspect of their software.
