If you use the same SSID and Password at both locations.  Take one of your Sonos speakers to the cabin and place it on the network. Your playlists will then be available.

Note: The speaker used cannot be a surround.

You can use change the SSID and Password at the cabin to the same as your home. The upside is that your device will automatically connect to the network. You may have to change the network settings for other WiFi devices at the cabin.

However, any further changes will be only at the location where they are made. This procedure does not ‘share’ across each location except the one time when set up. 

That’s not right - not if they’re using the same Sonos Household - the changes are reflected on every Sonos speaker/device connected to the same Household ID… as long as the system (wherever it’s located) has an internet connection to the Sonos Cloud.

Huh? That’s a change. Does that mean playlists are no longer local, but stored on some Sonos server somewhere?

If they are Sonos playlists they are stored in the Sonos speaker.

 You can use SonoSaver for Windows to backup the Sonos playlists.  They can also be backed up using Phonos Plus for IOS.

Maybe it’s me then, as I often take my speakers away with me, mostly Roam, Move etc. and connect to different WiFi networks including when we’re away in the camper van and to our Holiday Home aswell and I’ve always used the same iOS controller App (no Sonos App, or Speaker reset) and connected to ‘other’ speakers held in same HH and they’ve always seemed to be in sync across all the networks I’ve travelled between. Even when we’ve got Home they show what we’ve played/added etc. whilst we were away.

I have assumed things synced via the Sonos Cloud, but I guess I can’t rule out that things perhaps get ‘merged’ (synced) when we (auto)connect our travelling speakers (‘Roam’ etc.) back to the Home network.

As an example, I recently added a Christmas playlist to my Sonos favourites whilst away travelling with two Sonos Roams (on a 4G/4G LTE MiFi connection) and that playlist is on my Home devices now.. but admittedly my Roam would have connected back to my Home network automatically on my return.

I guess I’ll have to test this further when I get a moment then and see how these things are staying in sync.

So it looks like it is when a speaker in the same Sonos HH is returned Home that everything syncs (rather than via a cloud link.. er.. possibly) - see the attached video of a Christmas playlist (just a sample taken from Amazon Music in this instance). It suddenly/automatically shows up in the Sonos App favourites playlist section and goes from 3 playlists to 4.

The new playlist that appears was created on a Sonos Roam that had been taken away from the Home WiFi network (so imagine that then being on a different WiFi connection at a Cabin, or Holiday Home, for this purpose) and the playlist is created/added to the Sonos Household whilst there, on the Roam itself.

On return Home, the Roam auto-connects itself back to the Home WiFi network (all WiFi network credentials are held in the Sonos App "networks" area - up-to 16 WiFi networks can be stored apparently) and so it auto-link's back to the same Household, syncs and adds the changes made whilst away from the Home (and vice versa too, I guess). In this example, it auto-adds the Christmas playlist to the System.

So I did not wait ages, or overnight, to see if it synced via the cloud, but things can certainly be synced when devices are held in the same Sonos Household and just one speaker, like a Roam etc; is moved between the two locations - I do often take Sonos Roam(s) or a Move with me anyway, so I’ve not noticed the various locations not being in sync.

Every time you move a speaker to a new connection (WiFi/system), assuming it is not factory reset, will propagate/copy its playlists stored internally on that speaker to the ‘new’ system, in an effort to ‘sync’ all devices. Sonos does not store, to my knowledge, any of the Sonos playlists in any ‘cloud’, only on the speakers, as ​@MoPac states. External playlists, owned by each streamer, are of course stored on each streamer’s server.

Essentially, this means unless you move a speaker from location A and add it to location B, the two saved Sonos playlists will begin to deviate, if they are individually changed. Sonos does not store a ‘house hold’ playlist anywhere on a ‘cloud’ server.

At least for now. I suppose that may change.

Yeah I now believe that must be correct ​@Airgetlam - In my case, my Home Sonos System with its single Household ID is spread around two locations Home/Holiday Home …and some are used in the camper-van, which we use fairly regularly to travel with around the UK.  Those ‘travelling’ speakers (and others) are moved around between the various (different) WiFi networks that have different SSID’s, subnets and credentials, but all are effectively one Sonos Household (Same HH ID). They all use the same (non-reset) mobile controllers, mostly iPhone/iPad’s, we do have an Android tablet too.

All see the same Home Screen/Music Services/Playlists etc. only the Sonos rooms will appear/disappear depending on which WiFi the controller is connected too. I just always ensure the Sonos rooms are not named the same at the different locations.

I don’t use that many Sonos playlists anyway, as you can perhaps see, as my online playlists are mostly held in the Amazon & Apple Music services, which are synced using the Soundiiz online service.

I use Plex, iBroadcast & Apple iCloud to see my own ‘purchased’ music library - although I can access my NAS library ‘direct’ (SMB) through Sonos using a Home VPN server and having the controller’s VPN client connected to that Home server.

I’ve only seen things in sync when viewed at different locations and I assumed that was done via the Sonos cloud, but it seems it happens when connecting/disconnecting my (updated) travelling Roam(s) or Move to the local WiFi network … They just auto-connect at each location where they are used, as I have ALL the WiFi network credentials stored on them and visible in the Sonos App network settings. It seems when they connect they sync things, more or less, straight away.

…and here’s me thinking it was all kept in sync via the Sonos cloud.🤦🏻

I think there’d be a certain extra cost in maintaining a server to store all that data for each user in a cloud….;). Given that the devices already store that data, why spend the extra money?
