finding playlists and editing those playlists
finding playlists and editing those playlists
Going to need a little more information. What is it about “finding playlists and editing those playlists” do you wish to discuss?
Use the Windows or Mac desktop controller.
I'll expand on what they may have meant, but other threads have sort of explained the feature isn't available... and last eta was December, I believe…
I was trying to add songs to a playlist and couldn't find a button to add a song or create a new playlist. Both android and apple devices with up to date apps.
I'll have to grab the laptop and try the web app. I've just also read that it is hit or miss. Hope they get this one in order, lol. The alarm debacle didn't impact me, but the playlist thing is mildly inconvenient. Glad my wife does it more than I do.
May the Gods be praised and may joy be unconfined!!
WITH TODAY’S APP AND SYSTEM UPDATES, I CAN EDIT, ADD TO, AND CREATE PLAYLISTS AGAIN!!
I had forgotten what a wonderful thing it is. Nearly 11 months of waiting and waiting (and waiting and waiting), but finally….!
Really! I tried to get an update on Google Play, but no update available.
As noted on the
https://support.sonos.com/en-us/article/release-notes-sonos-app-updates
this is a staged release, not everyone receives it at the same time.
Mmm - I’m obviously not in the Sonos favourite users group because I still can’t create or edit playlists with the latest update. Wonder if their “gradual rollout” is going to take as long as their fixing the bugs they introduced? I’d love to know how they are managing a gradual rollout….
It'll be almost a year since being able to play my own music and playlists, some of which seem to have disappeared.
I bought a Denon speaker to play my own music and haven't bothered with Sonon since then. The Sonos speakers sit there, redundant.

So when you search for any track and then tap the three dots next to it, the menu that comes up doesn’t say “Add to Sonos Playlist” below “Save to Sonos Favourites”?
And then you go to Sonos Favourites → Playlists → and tap on a Playlist that you have created, when you tap the three dots beneath the Playlist title/thumbnails at the top, does it not say “Edit Sonos Playlist”?

Doesn’t give me any edit options - and I’ve just got the latest release . Maybe it will only work on playlists created in the new release?…..but that’s not good if so.
On a playlist I created in the last month (but before this latest release) I have no album art showing in the overall playlist either. There are different album artworks in the playlist itself, but in the past one was selected. This makes it so much easier to flick through and choose one.
Just checking - did you update the app and then also run the subsequent essential system update?
(Also to confirm, editing is for all playlists you’ve ever created, not just those created in the new app.)
Yep - system update had already happened before the app update.
Finishing system m update is spinning, 30 minutes so far.
Close and reopen the app. If the speakers have stopped flashing then it’s likely it’s just the app stuck in a loop. Open the app again and run the update and you’ll probably find it’s done.
Thanks Rhonny, I had to force close the app.
I'm eager to find out how it's now working.
Seems to me that the phased rollout after installing the latest update is triggered by individual controller id.
I have several Apple and Android devices and on my iPad and one Android smartphone the Sonos playlist feature now is available. But for example for my iPhone it’s still missing.
And just to add… after a quick test Sonos playlist editing works well for me.

Correct Rhonny - it does not say Add To Sonos Playlist. No option after the update 3~4 days ago plus a system update to do anything with a playlist. As someone above said, they are rolling this out gradually - no idea what that means or how they are managing it but I still have the crap version of the App.
Indeed it’s a rollout in phases after the latest update. I don’t know if it’s a random decision which controller will be updated in the background automatically or if there a certain parameter influencing that.
I just can tell you that 3 days after the update my Sonos controller app on iPad and an Android smartphone suddenly had the Sonos playlist feature available. And my iPhone and other devices are still missing it.
All are connected to the same sonos system and Sonos account.
So my advice is… take a big cup of coffee and just sit and wait.
Quick update folks. At some stage between yesterday evening and this morning, Sonos upgraded my status from the “Naughty” to the “Nice” list and I finally have a Playlist function on the Sonos App. It's a miracle! Off to create some playlists, lets hope they are still there tomorrow…..
One of my controllers received the playlist flag today as well. No multi select boo.

I think the rollout is on its final lane. Two days ago all the rest of my devices including iPhone and Android smartphone got the Sonos playlist feature.
And imo it’s a good start, because current functionality for me works without any bugs. And I definitely trust in Sonos to expand their playlist feature with additional functionality in future.
So speaking for myself next to all the bad feedback spreads over the community I like to leave a „well done, Sonos“ over here.
