Hi

I have an old (13 years) Play:1 that has, for the last few years, been used just as a bedroom radio & alarm.  As of yesterday morning this has dropped out of the MacOS & iOS apps (coincidently? I’d just updated to Golden Gate & iOS 27) but it does still show in, & can be controlled from, the SONOS web app.

Have done a factory reset & added it as a new device, via the iOS app, all went through fine, all necessary connections & handshake noises were completed, said it was added to the system but as soon as I moved from the setup screen back to the system it was marked as ‘not connected’, it then dropped off the system screen in the app.  It does, however, show & work in the web app.

My three other devices all show up & work as expected

Working through the web app is not an issue for the speaker itself (it generally stays on one radio station) but it means that I can no longer uses it as an alarm, (the alarms show ‘no room selected’ in the apps as they don’t think the bedroom speaker exists). Is there a way to set the alarm from the web app?

Of the four Sonos devices showing as connected, two show as 2.4Ghz & the other two as via the Wi-Fi Extender Disc, turning the extender off & three show up on 2.4Ghz whilst the other is on 5Ghz.

However with the extender off all four do show up in the apps, so we may have got somewhere, thanks

Is this your only Sonos device? Sounds like “local network” permission issue if so. Make sure it is on (toggle it off then back on, it often lies) on both Apple OSs.

No have four devices in all, the other three show/work on the MacOD/iOS/Web apps, it’s just the Play:1 that will only show on the web app

Sounds like your router is having trouble routing between your devices (likely on 5GHz) and your Play:1 (on 2.4GHz). The web app doesn’t care as it doesn’t use that route.

O your router admin page, check which frequencies each device are using, to verify the P1 is the only 2.4Ghz.

This is listed in the system requirements as unsupported:

Sonos system requirements

Unsupported network setups and devices

  • Wireless internet connections such as satellite, mobile hotspots, or LTE routers
  • Guest networks or networks that use a portal login page
  • Networks using wireless range extenders 2
  • Routers that only provide 5 GHz WiFi
  • Ethernet over Power (EOP) devices
  • WPA/WPA2 Enterprise
  • VPNs blocking access to local network resources

2 If you need to extend your home WiFi to use Sonos in a wireless setup, we recommend using a WiFi mesh router to do so.
