I have no way of adjusting the volume on a stereo pair of Play 3’s. They are not grouped. It says Stereo Pair

Recent History

I just changed broadband providers however my router was connected to a mesh network that provided its own network (wifi and LAN) to Sonos and the Wifi was turned off on the router as it is now. When the broadband changed two days ago I had no issues, initially, with Sonos.

However, the next morning I noticed that the Arc Ultra was not working and I had to power it off and on for it to re-add. That fixed the issue

Then last night I was playing some music late at night and I tend to play it on all devices and i could hear the bedroom stereo pair really loudly

Before the router change I had taken the two 3’s off the system as surronds to my Arc (not Ultra) and set them up as a stereo pair. That worked okay.

So back to last night. I went to lower the volume on the stereo pair and there was no volume control.

They just played very loud.

As I type this, and check my facts, things have changed.

I now have a volume control but no sound coming out of the stereo pair

Not sure what made that change

Any thoughts?

Sounds like you have a double NAT issue by having more than one network in your home.
Are you able to turn off routing duties on your ISPs device and allow the mesh to be the main routing device?

Provide more information about your network.

Who is your ISP and what model router do you have?

What model mesh system do you have?

Hi

I was with Plusnet which handled DHCP but Wifi turned off

I am now with VirginMedia which handles DHCP with Wifi turned off

I have Devolo PowerlIne which provide network to my TV and Arc Ultra via a cable

I also have TP Link Deco system which provides all the wireless around the house

Vm is a HUB 5

Worked fine before

Now, the volume button is back but no sound on the Play 3 stereo pair although that can change to sound with no volume control

Thanks for your interest

Why not put the VirginMedia Hub 5 into modem mode and let the TP Link Deco handle DHCP?

I found the Deco’s unreliable on Ethernet plus it only supports one or two Ethernet connections which mean I would have to add a switch

When you say you had no volume control whilst the speakers were playing loudly, do you mean the volume slider was greyed out?

Or were you able to move the volume slider, but the speakers were unresponsive to the change in volume?

In that case, configure the Decos as access points so that there is not a second router in your network.

Fixed, at least for now

I unpaired them as a stereo pair

Could not seem to remove them from the Sonos system so powered them off

When they came back up I then paired them as a stereo pair, which took 3 attempts

But since then they appear to be functioning correctly again

Thanks for your help, support and ideas
