Can’t upgrade to S2 successfully if I wanted to being that the compatibility tool is now greyed out even after deleting S2 app entirely.

App is the only thing that needs to be updated. Which downloads S2 and replicates the problem I posted.

OK...at this juncture I only have two suggestions (in no particular order):

  1. Factory reset all speakers and setup under Sonos App (S2).
  2. Call Sonos Tech Support on Monday

Yes, everything up to date except the app. Rinse/repeat - I’m in limbo, can’t update.

I see all updated.

I would not factory reset.  I would contact Support.  They can remote access your system and see exactly what is going on

It feels like the system is in limbo, with some flag set incorrectly that we can't do anything about
