Think twice before you install the new SONOS app as at least the following features are no longer available (temporarily or permanently):

  • Sleeptimer has disappeared completely. Either you sleep the entire night with music on or you wake up to switch off the music… Quite defeats the purpose.
  • Alarms: creating and editing an alarm is no longer possible. You can only toggle an existing alarm on and off.
  • Local music library: make sure you don’t remove it as it is no longer possible to add a local music library stored on a NAS or shared device. Also the search doesn’t work on the local library any longer; it only searches the online music services. Sonos seems to have finally let down its initial user population that made Sonos big before music streaming services existed…

Either this is a deliberate choice by Sonos to reduce the functionality or someone validated a pre-beta release for production to meet some preset deadlines… In any case, don’t upgrade if you need these features.

Glad I only renewed the app on my iPad and not on my iPhone. I read everywhere functionality of streaming services seems to be unharmed but that is not the case for nugs.net. I re-installed the service and authorized it several times but it’s stil not possible to connect with nugs.net in the new app on my iPad. The funny thing it still works perfectly in the old S2 app on my iPhone.

I've uninstalled this complete failure that was ejected from the anus of Sonos. Hope they don't mess with the desktop version, but I may be pissing into the wind...

Use SonoPad instead of the 'new’ Sonos app.

I always have Automatic Updates in the SONOS app switched OFF.

I manually update my apps in Google Play. Have been doing so for over the last decade.

Even installing the APK independently, the SONOS app STILL went from 16.x to 80.x 2 days later by itself.

This update is being forced somehow, unless I've missed something somewhere.

** UPDATE! ** - I've removed the new SONOS app from ALL my other Android devices. Let's see how it goes.... 


Sinds plaatsen van update werkt gans de App totaal niet meer zoals ervoor. Valt steeds weg en start dan opnieuw volledig op om dan weer van het scherm te verdwijnen. Gelukkig nog geen update gedaan op ander bedieningsapparaat, anders geen controle meer mogelijk.

Ook verschillende keren opnieuw geprobeerd, steeds de zelfde fout. 

Wat nu??

 

Ich befürchte, dass dieses Update allen aufgedrängt wird. Ich weiß nicht warum, aber selbst wenn die Updates deaktiviert waren, hat es Sonos auf meinen anderen Geräten immer noch verändert. (übersetzt von Google)


My wife has iPhone like myself with my Sonos account on her phone I checked her phone she has the old s2 app still not the new one that I updated to my phone glad I had auto updated turned off so I will be using her phone to operate Sonos using the old s2app what a relief 


I’ve had a nightmare with new Sonos app 

So many things missing I just thought I’ll check my wife’s phone and to my surprise her phone hasn’t updated to new version cos auto update was turned off so everything check your partners phone if they have the old version on lol

Nope! Somehow the app keeps getting forced to the new version even using just the APK. Is anyone else having this same event? 🤔

since the update of the new app 89.00.04 release 20240507.671125b on May 7,
the trueplay feature has been crashing. Through apple task manager, I have to swipe out the sonos app. Does anyone have a solution? Via the old app on another iphone it does work.
Help!


I too want to contribute my disappointment with this update. I loved this app! I used the sleep feature almost nightly. I hope with enough complaints the company will restore the app to what is was before this horrible update.


I use alarms and sleep functions daily. Staggered this got released. My iPad has the old one so I can do alarms. Can’t find the Sonos for MacOS app in the App Store?


This new version of the app is complete crap. I am going to attempt to find a way to install the old version, or sell my Sonos speakers. With out an alarm or sleep timer it offers no value. Plugging my phone into a speaker is more functional now.

Uninstall/remove/delete/throw away the 'new’ Sonos app 

And after that download the 16-1 apk and install

We are Sonos dealers (weren’t part of the beta testing group tho) and have provided feedback on such missing features with the new app update, which Sonos is aware of, including your sleep timer. So sit back, relax, and enjoy some tunes while you wait...maybe not REM’s “It’s The End of the World As We Know It” for those teetering on the edge...jeesh 😁


Moving my SUB to another room through the new Android Controller is not possible anymore. The controller tells me the sub is not connected to the network, but it finds it when choosing the SUB when starting the move process...


I can’t even find where to toggle existing alarms, where is that?

Same. Just spend the last 20 minutes in bed clicking on every button with no success. How is this app so unintuitive, designed to make people mad??? If anyone knows where this is, please advise! This is the most infuriating thing.


There is no longer a way to wake up the speaker via the app.

Have your Product Designers thought about the impact this has on people physically impaired who can't reach speakers in high places?

Have they thought about taking away functionality that was previously there? Especially when it was part of the reason why they got those speakers in the first place?

There was nothing in that update that beneficial or helpful. This is very disappointing.


The evidence that the deployment of the new app to the users population, is a real drama, is when calling SONOS support! A waiting queue of more than 80 minutes is in my opinion a very bad omen! I just want to check the result of a previous submitted problem (case number *******), on May 7th just after receiving the new app! I rest my case and wait for a solution through an update. I hope on very short term!

Selling the hardware at this time would effect the price dramatically 😞

Since this is a Sonos forum can I assume that Sonos employees are actually reading everyone’s comments?

Has Sonos replied to anyone about the issues with this app? 

Pretty sure I read somewhere that this app is supposed to be faster, has anyone found that to be true?  For me it seems to be much slower. 


Sonos Beam: 

No indication of music playing, nor possibility to control it.

When playing TV content: no indication of sound format anymore

Controls for midnight mode and dialogue boost gone

Also when streaming from NAS: no HD and High Res badges gone?

This new app feels buggy and ill conceived, please re-publish the previous one. 

I have a sonos beam.

I can’t see the Night Sound feature in the new app.

I can’t see the Speech Enhancement feature in the new app

The app is also harder to use


WTF??? Yup no alarm edit… seems with HomeAssistant can although turn it off.. not with Sonos app… I don’t know who the idiots in dev team are, but congratulations on crapping nice brand down.. gl with your lifes, noone will hire you after crash and burn of Sonos… was thinking to update some speakers… not anymore, not going to buy single item from Sonos anymore, thank you and bye..

what the hell happened here??!!!!! I had beats one set on the app for my alarms every morning & also had tons of rare songs saved over the last few years. It’s now all gone  How was this possible? How do we report this?



How can it be that the people who come up with these garbage decisions don’t get fired. Incomprehensible incompetence. Arg.

Yes it is much slower. Looks like they're trying to get the app to go via the web when you take a look at https://play.sonos.com 


Oh what a fail removing functionality from a product you’ve paid for! You should offer a recall and refund if your techs can’t program an off timer.
