I'm still experiencing the terrible lag on basic play controls, volume and mute which make the listening experience rather traumatic rather than pleasurable as it use to be - just wondering whether anyone, anywhere, any how had discovered a reliable fix/ solution??

Note for Sonos - basic play functions like volume, track selection, skip forward, skip back have to work instantaneously it is a basic user experience expectation - if it is true from what I read that even basic control functions go to the cloud with the added latency and lag for using the system I paid you alot of money for to play music reliably in my own home then you really need to rethink that engineering decision - simply unacceptable! (you might also think about making a clear and unambiguous statement about that, as the speculation and lack of trust is hurting you badly)

Hi Sonos Community, update from me while we wait for sanity to return to Sonos, I am so fed up with the mobile app that I have dug out an old but usable laptop and now use the Windows app to control my Sonos system, yes I know having a laptop perched on my kitchen worktop seems crazy but I enjoy my music and the app is too frustrating to be usable. So, volume responsive, mute responsive, track skip responsive, play list management is ok ... let's just hope some crazy sonos marketing bod doesn't suggest a devastating update to the windows app too!

You could try the web app too.

It does seem your system is bothered by the the outside route some commands take with the new Sonos app. Sonos has not been very transparent about why the decision to do this has been taken. But they say they are improving even if you haven’t noticed. In the meantime, could you take a look at your netwerk and see if you have devices in there that could stand in the way of a good connection from your system to then Sonos servers?

Good advice, think I have already done that, one of my earlier responses detailed everything I did/tried. Focused mainly on WiFi optimisation, channel conflict that sort of thing. The app lag for basic functions did not happen with the previous app and does not happen with the windows controller so my conclusion is that it is a change introduced by the new app rather than a local network problem, but maybe the new app has just exposed a problem that didn't matter before. What I don't understand is if it was that and so many people are struggling why isn't there guidance on what to try to fix it?!, Sonos and the community must know what can be done, although that assumes it is not a fundamental flaw in the app design which is what I currently believe.
