I love how Sonos response to the limited library is use someone else’s software and pay for their subscription.  Music fans with large libraries can go pound sand.

Plex isn’t good for playlist imports.  But….

Roon is expensive as heck.  However Roon streams perfectly with the Sonos hardware and even does whole home playback.  You’re no longer stuck with the Sonos app and even no longer stuck in Sonos hardware ecosystem.

Hello @Paulk72, welcome back to the Sonos Community!

I am glad you were able to find a workaround that works for you.

I hope other users will find this helpful.

Another option is to run a music server on a NAS or computer and cast the output via Chromecast. IIRC I paid about £20 for a CCA puck, and something like £4 for a full licence to HifiCast.

I use the CCA into a Play 5, from which it can be sent to any other Sonos device, ot direct to my AV system, which supports Chromecast directly.

No ongoing fees, it supports ‘hi-res’ files and I haven’t found any limits yet.

Thanks @amun

I run a Synology NAS and it does work well.  Except for the whole home audio thing, which is what I was going for when I bought into the SONOS ecosystem.
