Hi all. Amongst numerous other issues I am experiencing, I am unable to mute individual zones independently ( I have 5 sonos amps) when using my sonos app on my android, but can do it when using my wifes Apple phone. Does anyone else have the same problem and does anyone have a solution? Thanks.
PS I have no intention of changing to an Apple phone as my dislike for that company is even greater than that which I currently have for Sonos!!!

While not absolutely reliable, touch the Volume bar on the Group. Individual Room Volume controls will be displayed and you can Mute individual Rooms.
Hi buzz, thanks for your response . Touching the volume bar works perfectly on the iphone but absolutely nothing happens when doing this on either of my Android phones!

As you can (hopefully) see, you just need to touch the ‘group’ volume control on the mini-player at the foot of the screen. See attached from my Android Sonos controller App… then go onto select the speaker icons (on left of each volume control) to mute the room.
Hi Ken, many thanks for taking the time to respond and adding the graphics. Your screen page showing the expanded volume controls by each zone is different to what I have on my Sony & Huawei smart phones but 'similar' to my wifes iphone where like you we can choose which zone to mute in a specific group of zones. On my androids you can either see, all of the different individual zones with volume controller and showing the ones which are active having a yellow tick against them, but there are no mute icons located here OR the more appropriate page shows the zones which are grouped together with just one volume controller and mute button that controls all of the zones in that group and tapping the volume controller here does not expand it to the individual controllers and mute buttons in that group! As such I am still unable to carry out the function on my android phones - really annoying!
On my controller touching the small speaker icon will mute the player. This is true for my Android phone and iPad.

Just to say the screen-capture posted earlier is the Android App - so it should be the same (give or take) and the screen you mention with the ‘yellow tick’ against the rooms is a different screen altogether which is for room grouping rather than volume control/muting. I suspect you are touching the mini-player screen in the wrong place - try touching the volume button AFTER you have grouped the rooms in the App.
You need to bring up this screen….(see attached).
There are several popup screens available by tapping the mini-player in the Android App. You need the screen that pops up when you tap the volume control - it will only work AFTER you have grouped the rooms in the App. Maybe this animation (attached) might assist you further. It demonstrates the various popup screens available and shows the one you need to mute the individual rooms.
Hope it assists…
Hi buzz/Ken,
Again thanks both for your time. I have attached two images, which hopefully you will be able to see, which shows how my zoned groups are shown on my pages and that I only have one volume control and mute per 'group' on these pages and tapping the volume control of the group on either page, which on this example includes bed 3 & bed 2, does not expand the volume control to offer individual volume control and/or muting. If I want to adjust the volume control individually for either bed 3 or 2 then I need to go to my system page where you group your zones (with the yellow ticks) and do it from there - however as you know there are no mute functions on this page.

Sorry but you’re still going about it in the wrong way - Group the rooms and then get back to the mini-player at the bottom of the screen with the group in focus and then tap the volume button, or slider, on the minimised player to see the screen you need to mute the individual rooms.
Hi Ken, when I go ino my mini player at the bottom as per the first image, then what I get is the page as shown on the second image, at no point do I get individual volume/mute controls displaying even if I hit the volume control bar on the second image. If I was to hit the middle bar at the bottom of the page on the second image which states 'main bedroom +4, it just takes me back to the grouping page.
It works not only on Android here, but also in the same way on all my controllers, including an iPhone (as attached)… all I do is tap the volume slider control on the group in the mini player at the bottom of the screen.
If you still can’t get it to work, maybe try removing and reinstalling the App on your mobile device to see if that might fix things for you.
Hi Ken, I did decide last night to reinstall my app on both androids and at the moment everything seems to be working fine now.
Many thanks for your time and patience its very much appreciated. Have a great day
