I used to have several Sonos speakers and a Sonos bar, but when they all quit working after the upgrade I gave them away. I kept one Sonos 1. I can stream to it, but nothing I try gets it to connect to my music library. I used to love this system. It used to work flawlessly. I swore off of it, but I keep checking back because I miss it. I’ve tried the suggestions that I’ve read here...nope. I’ve watched it indexing for more than 10 hours...nope. Why on earth would I buy new Sonos speakers knowing that they will not work a few years down the road. I can stream my music library through decent desktop speaker. The sound quality is inferior to Sonos, but they work with no headaches. I’ll keep checking back to see if Sonos has fixed their product.

You’ve given very little information about your system, so I’m afraid there aren’t a lot of solutions I can suggest, other than you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of trying to play one of these local files, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. But don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.
There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.
When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
