I have a music library that includes Windows Media Player (WPL files) playlists. I am continually curating these and they are primarily what I play. In the app I select Music Library, Imported Playlists, the playlist of interest, and then start using the Play button.

Some weeks ago, this functionality stopped working. Pressing the Play button resulted in a spinning icon. Whereas doing this used to clear the existing queue and then play, this was no longer the case. I had to explicitly first clear the queue myself, and then pressing play would work. Ok, I got around that and lived with it.

However, as of last weekend (Sat 3/22), this no longer worked, and further, playing my imported playlists does not work at all. Pressing Play results in an endlessly spinning icon. Pressing the ellipsis icon (...) and then trying alternate methods results in:

  • Play Now: something went wrong
  • Play Next: unable to add to queue
  • Add to end of queue: Unable to add to queue
  • Replace queue: spinning play icon

Playing songs in the playlist via the ellipsis icon (...) next to the song and selecting Play Now works.

I have the Sonos Windows controller and playing the playlist using it works and that’s what I’ve been doing.

Hopefully someone can help. I submitted diagnostics.

Edit:

I created a couple short videos that demonstrate the problem in the Android app and show how it does work correctly via the Windows app:

Hello @Johnny Rico, welcome back!

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue playing your imported playlists from the Music Library on your Sonos system.

Thank you for reporting this, we are currently investigating the issue but have no ETA for a fix to share.

I will make sure to reply here with an update when I get one.

I hope this helps.

Thanks @Sotiris C. Let me know if you need more info or want me to try anything.

Hi @Johnny Rico

We now believe that this issue was resolved with the latest update. Please check your playlists, but also be aware that the update is being released as a phased rollout and you may not get the latest version until Monday next week, at the latest.

I hope this helps.

Thank you! I will look for this update to arrive and report back.

Got the update and Play Now and Replace Queue are back to working as expected. I have not yet tried Add to end of queue. Very happy to have this functionality back, thank you!
