My Apple Music library playlist (rips of my CDs) came in as this gibberish mess. How do I fix it? The songs play fine but, I have a lot of playlists I would like to play.

Hi
I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with your music library displaying playlist names incorrectly.
Most likely this is caused by a corrupt or missing XML file since your tracks will play. You can generate one from the Apple Music app by going to File → Library → Export Library. After you have the XML file, place it in the folder that you added to Sonos as your music library share, either adding it if it wasn’t there or replacing the one that currently is there. Once you’ve done this, re-index your music library and check if your playlists have the correct names.
If this doesn’t resolve your issue, then I would recommend contacting our support team for further assistance. They have the necessary tools available to look into your system and see what’s going wrong.
I hope this helps!
I find this answer very confusing. Could you structure it in step by step points with specific and clear directions an 8 year old could follow. Thanks
Hi
I’ll write it out step by step for you below. However, if you’re still unsure of how to proceed, our support team can guide you through this process live if you reach out to them.
Try these steps:

This seems wrong. There is no Library.xml file in the Music folder where my ALAC, AAC, MP3 are kept. I did a system wide search, none. I am on latest OS on Mac M1. Apple Music works fine on its own so, maybe your understanding is out of date?
Hi
After a quick google, it looks like Apple doesn’t automatically generate this file, however it’s still possible to generate one with the steps I listed which I found on Apple’s Support site. Since one doesn’t exist, you can just place it in the main Music folder on your computer.
here is how it works for my on a Synology NAS:
Step 1: export the library for Sonos
Create a subfolder, called iTunes, in the Synology NAS folder (e.g. MyMusic/iTunes) and export the Apple Music library. Choose in Apple Music under the File menu the ‘Library’ option and ‘Export Library’. Store the library file ‘iTunes Music Library.xml’ in the subfolder. Remember that you will need to export the library each time you made changes to your Apple Music tracks or playlists since this file is not automatically updated.
Step 2: update the Sonos music library settings
Update the Sonos App Music Library settings and enter the NAS folder path with the music tracks folder (e.g. //NAS_hostname/music/MyMusic).
Upon completion of the Sonos Music Library update you should find all Apple Music Playlists in the Imported Playlists.
