Just installed the new app. But I can’t find where the music library went. Also no option to add a folder to the library
Moderator edit: We have an article with instruction on how to add a music library share on Windows and MacOS. Have a look.

What on earth is going on?! I use Sonos to play my music library over my 3 Sonos speakers. I rarely use streaming services.
Same as you Chris.
I spoke to support by phone and they say a fix is coming for this on 21 May with a new software update that will address this and other things like the missing alarm feature.
I really hope they fix this soon.
I downloaded and paid for sonophone and it is no better also doesn’t find my local library. Looks like I wasted $3
PSA according to the developer of SonoPhone his app only works to play songs from your local library if the desktop Sonos app is working. Sonos is trying to force me to update that as well so the new app is no help at all. UI is also very clunky and not intuitive.

I updated the desktop app on my iMac and it lost my music library and won't re-load it. So now I can only use my Sonos speakers to stream from music providers or radio, something I rarely do. I am very p****d off!
SONOS support published following. It looks like they didn’t develop yet a functionality listed below.
Why then they are pushing customers to update to undeveloped version?
The CEO of Sonos is PAtrick Spence and his email address is ceo@sonos.com
Maybe he is unaware of the absolute cods his team have made of the app and would welcome some feedback?

Some say it’s because they are releasing headphones soon and they need this app to support it, current users be damned.

I wrote to CEO and got response that they are fully aware of the problem and while they re working on it they suggested to use a web app as a workaround.

The web app is no workaround, as it's responding way too slow.

It’s a piece of crap.
I have close to 1TB of music on my NAS and it plain don’t work. I get a list of the artists but nothing else.
They just need to revert to the old version and work out the kinks before forcing it on us all
I did just another Sonos update after the debacle update from last week, and now my music is gone from “your sources”.
i went on the Sonos app on my desktop and I see that my music folder is no longer listed, and won’t let me add another folder???
I too have the same issue. No functionality using my music library with IOs update rendering SONOS useless for my needs. I did voice my frustration with the “customer support” rep and explained that I understood he had nothing to do with the worthless update but to please send my complaint to VP app design/ R&D and it is my opinion he/she should be unemployed. I turned a blind eye when the original SONOS 2 update was incompatible with a perfectly functioning SONOS 5. I can no longer use all my SONOS speakers on the same app. I had to buy a “NEW” SONOS 5. (I’m sure that was the motive). This recent update makes all of my SONOS system completely pointless. I’m ready for a class action lawsuit for any attorneys interested in representing us.
After several frustrating days with the new ios app, I checked the app on my iMac where my music is stored and was forced to update only to then not be allowed to add my music. I found a solution for the (913) error: https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-and-music-services-229131/how-to-solve-the-error-913-music-library-on-a-mac 6894161#:~:text=Enable%20“Allow%20guest%20users%20to,access%20to%20guests%2C%20will%20work. This worked, but the ios app still won’t show my music. However, SonoPhone, a $2.99 app mentioned on this forum last week, works and now works with my music. Unfortunately, there is no global search and one must search each streaming service and the music library separately. Tomorrow, I’m going up to my second home in northern Wisconsin for a week, and I expect I’ll get frustrated trying to connect to my system there--It’s usually effortless.
Apparently the community post to fix the 913 error has been removed.

I have given up. No response from SONOS at all and I can’t use my library. I can only listen to Amazon and the same songs for so long.

My like for the 913 mac error fix may not work. Try this:
Also, I can now report that Music Library shows up on the new Sonos ios app in “Your Sources” above Line-in’ --just took a while. No search, but alphabetical.
Same here, but thanks to PaulRB371 and HelpingIsKind I fixed it in 2 minutes. Here’s how:
Sonos has become totally useless not being able to go through my own, locally NAS stored, music library anymore and not being able to quickly scroll A-Z. From what planet do you come from thinking this primary functionality is not needed anymore.
As said by others, it’s looking like only servicing streaming providers. But if that’s the case I directly use Spotify because of a better interface…
What a bad choice from Sonos, please ask the decision maker to search for another job (not in software development).
Oh yes, and give me back the ‘old’ iPhone app asap!
Outrageous way to treat their loyal customers. Been buying Sonos for over a decade and this is the worst example of customer abuse I have experienced
Happy again, really !!
I posted before because I was able to install the old Sonos Android App version on my phone but not on my tablet and also not on the phone of my wife, but now I solved that….
There are 2 variants of the same app for android. I found them on APKMirror : https://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk&s=sonos where I selected version 16.1 and downloaded both files for armeabi-v7a and arm64-v8a. One variant installs on my phone and the other on my tablet and on the phone of my wife.
First download these files and after downloading you temporary disable all automatic updates, install, disable updates for the Sonos app and enable other updates again.
I think I followed the next steps :
Turn off WiFi, you may leave your data connection on.
Now we turn of the automatic update for Sonos only and enable other automatic updates again. Leave your WiFi off, you want to have your data connection on.
Now start the “new old Sonos app”, connect to your Sonos and login.
Maybe there are little mistakes in the steps above but I hope this helps people to get the previous version back.
that might get some features back however if you updated the desktop app on the computer then this will not workto play files stored on the computer.
Sonos has eliminated playing music files directly stored on android devices back in mid to early 2023 and that my friend is never coming back, it was purposely done.
Total rubbish. How do I get an older version of the app on Android back?

This does NOT work. I do not see how this works. Nothing shows up in the music library or play options whether desktop app or trying to access with phone.
Since the Sonos update my songs on each of my albums in my music library are no longer listed. Also, in the previous version when an album started playing those songs were immediately put into the queue and at the end of the album you could delete the queue. This function no longer seems to exist. How do I get a list of all the songs on the album when I play that album and how do I automatically have the songs appear in the queue so I can delete them at the end of listening to that album .
I now eventually have regained access to my music library after sharing my music folder, but access is far harder than under the previous app.
As a generalisation, it is probably true that the more knowledgeable and passionate you are about music, the more likely you are to curate your own music library, rather than relying on streaming apps. (This is not to deny that there may be some knowledgeable and passionate music lovers who do rely only on streaming). We are the people that Sonos’ app “upgrade” has harmed. We are also the people to whom those less knowledgeable and passionate turn for advice. Even if Sonos believes that the future lies with streaming apps, it will not survive unless it meets the needs of those who have their own music libraries, because it will not be taken seriously by the group that cares most.
I am unable to get access to my music libray which is on my hard drive Itunes music folder
