Hi,

Heave anybody the same problems with multible Spotify streams?

It has already worked all the time since i have the sonos systems over many years.

I use a premium Spotify account.

Best regards.

Hi Berni,

did you start different Spotify streams on several rooms directly from within Sonos app? As far as I know that should work. Just trying to start a second Spotify stream via voice assistant or Spotify direct control will be a multiple usage that isn’t allowed by Spotify.

Hi Schlumpf,

Yes i did start different streams in serveral rooms within the sonos app. I know i cannot start at the same time from Spotify app and sonos app.

Until yesterday it worked correctly.

Is it a bug?

@Lillitopf

Did you retry today? Imo could have been a bug because yesterday for me Spotify wasn’t working on Sonos at all for a short period. Right now it’s ok again.
Sadly I can’t check for a second stream because of missing subscription. I‘m just on Spotify free.

I checked it out know. It doesnt works.

Ok, what happens when trying to start the second stream? Does ist start and the one already playing stops? That‘s like it is with a free account. Can you try to remove and add Spotify again to your Sonos services!?

And maybe another user with paid plan can double check if it’s a general issue or not.

If I try to start the second stream in another room, it stops playing the first stream. And the text Spotify Spotify is standing instead the name of the artist and of the track.

I already tried to remove an add again Spotify as Service within the Sonos-System.

I actually use a paid Spotify account (its premium duo).

@Lillitopf

Thanks for clarifying…

So I guess it could be a current Spotify issue, but not sure because I saw no other users reporting that yet. I suggest calling Sonos support and to report it to them. Sendung a diagnostic from within Sonos app (support section) also will be helpful.

Thanks for your support.

I will talk with sonos.

Have a nice Day.

Thanks.

I have been having this issue for a few days now. Sonos support fobbed me off saying it was a spotify licensing issue stating you were never allowed to steam to multiple speakers from within the app. Despite me doing it for years. Really sick of Sonos and this new App!!!

Could it be that Spotify never noticed you using two streams for two different rooms on Sonos before and with the new app (that uses much more outside calls) Spotify does notice? Which would lead to them enforcing their one stream policy?

There is at least one other thread about the same issue. I don’t see anyone yet commenting if what is suggested there has helped. There have also been these issues before the new app.

I have not heard that Spotify had changed their policy with Sonos. If you have Spotify Premium then playing multiple streams in one household (ip address) should definitely be possible.

Today it works fine again.

Waiting - was the solution.

I hope its done.

I think the issue is down to the fact that the Sonos app states the stream has started from Spotify and not the Sonos App. To be clear I am using the Sonos app and not the Spotify App. It also won’t let me edit the queue either. Both issues seem related and i see another thread with the same Queue issue.

Final comment on this. It actually works fine on the Windows Desktop App (Old One) but not on any phone app!

Hi @Lillitopf

Thanks for reporting this behaviour. We have identified an issue with playing multiple Spotify streams to a single Sonos system and we are investigating.

There have also been reports that this is now no longer happening - Spotify may have already addressed the problem themselves.

I hope this helps.

Any update on this as started happening to me the other day, it stopped when I re-added my Spotify account but has come back again today?
