Hello everybody.

since yesterday i have missing album art on apple music. To be precise, it appears for one or two songs and then disappears for say half an hour, then again randomly appears for a couple of songs and then it’s gone again. Other services (spotify, pandora) show album art ok. And my apple music app on my iphone shows art just fine. Does anybody have the same issue? Maybe somebody know why it happens. It is actually even strange. When i play apple music in two rooms, it may show art in one room and not show it in the other.

Hard to tell, without looking at hard data, which we don’t get. In general, the speaker receives the album art from the streamer, and then forwards that information to your controller. My guess is you’ve got some sort of borderline wifi interference going on, just enough to interfere with the sending of the album art, but not quite enough to interfere with the (more important) music.

I’d suggest two things. No, make that three, since I’ve already linked to that FAQ. Second, if none of those solutions suggested work, would be a simple network refresh. Unplug all your Sonos devices from power, then reboot your router. Wait two minutes, then plug in your Sonos devices. Wait another two minutes, then test.

But if that doesn’t work, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Thanks, but it is not on wife it is on the cable. Which three things do you recommend? I did reboot router and the amp, it did not help. Well it helped for a second or so, after reboot the art appeared but then it was gone again after couple of songs and again appears randomly and rarely.

Doesn’t make a difference, really. You can easily drop the word ‘Wifi’, and it is the same thing. Especially if the issue is between your router and the outside world (which includes anything from issues with the router, DNS, and even Apple’s servers, although you don’t have a lot of affect on them).

If you didn’t have the Amp unplugged while you rebooted the router, you won’t have gotten ‘all the things’, just some of them.

And I’d still encourage my third option, Sonos does have access to details that we in the public don’t.

I did unplug both of my amps for 15 minutes, twice actually, did not help

Great. Did you reboot the router while both Amps were unplugged?

I unplugged the router, then the amps, the all were unplugged at the same time

And also, i do not think it is a router thing because i rewired everything to another router which was not used for a couple of months and it is all the same. Could it be anything with my provider?

Usually not a provider issue unless they are playing dirty tricks like altering their dns servers to generate ad revenue.

You could try changing from what your ISP suggests/auto-assigns to two or three, not more than 3, of the public DNS servers.

Google 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4

Cloudflare 1.1.1.1

Open DNS / Cisco 208.67.222.222

Quad9  9.9.9.9

The 1.1.1.1 - 8.8.8.8 - 9.9.9.9 set is easy to remember and gives you three different sources for your system to pick from.

As @Stanley_4 suggests, it is possible, but extremely unlikely. What did Sonos Support say, when you called in with your diagnostic?

I’d suggest talking directly to an agent, not the Chatbot, I’m not sure it would be able to help.

They said to reauthorise apple music. I also noticed that my amp is real hot because we have the summer heat here. Could that be the reason?

Hard for us in the public to tell. ‘Real hot’ is a judgement, and we in the public still don’t have access to the hard data in a diagnostic, to tell if the Amp’s electronics are impacted, but it certainly seems unlikely to affect images, and not just shut down the Amp completely.

What is strange to me is thar the other services are working fine, they show the art, but the apple music

It certainly suggests difficulty with the speakers communicating with the Apple servers. Hard to tell why, though, without that hard data that isn’t available to us.

Those things are actually even funnier. Say i have two black boxes for the album cover on both rooms on pc controller. Then i start pushing buttons for the rooms, one, two, one, two, one, two and magically after 3-5 pushes like that the album art is there in both rooms.

  • June 11, 2026

Pushing buttons for rooms? Please describe what that means.

It might be helpful if you described your Sonos setup. What sonos devices? Describe your network configuration and how sonos is connecting. How are you playing Apple Music? Within sonos or via Airplay? The more info you can include, the better the help you might receive here.

But you really should try another diagnostic and call to support to get to the bottom of your problem.

Edit: I just wanted to also mention, my internet is not the greatest here. Apple Music album art appears very slowly if I’m currently playing lossless from Apple Music. If I’m trying to browse the Apple Music service in Sonos while also playing, many times the connection just gives up and displays “no items available”. None of the other services I have on Sonos does this.

Just change rooms on pc controller, this it it, see what is playing in one or another

The setup is simple, i have two old amps, zp100 and connect amp and two pairs of passive speakers. All amps are wired, no wifi.

I think everyone here was assuming you were running an S2 Sonos system. You have an old S1 system. That changes things a bit. The Apple Music integration on S1 is terrible. I don’t expect that it will ever improve or be fixed. Although, it does work. So, there’s that.

I don’t have an issue with Apple Music album art not appearing using an S1 controller on android or iOS devices. But I don’t have a windows desktop S1 controller to test with. I still think your best option is getting help from sonos support.

Well, it was not terrible at all until couple of days ago

  • June 11, 2026

“Terrible” was a little harsh. But compared to Apple Music service in the S2 controller, it is lacking. Apple Music service in the S2 controller is more like the current Apple Music app on iOS.

Well, i will be just hoping that it will resolve itself and return to normal as it was up until recently

  • June 11, 2026

It could be a temporary issue with the apple server being used. It wouldn’t be the first time. Hope it works out 🤞.
