Managements of Sonos lists (which number is allowed) and imported lists (can they modify and saved ?)
Hi
Welcome to the Sonos Community!
I am not entirely sure what you are asking, but I think it might be related to playlists?
There is a general limit of 10,000 items in all Sonos Playlists, combined. As in, all Sonos Playlists can not add up to a total of more than 10,000 tracks.
Imported playlists (either from locally stored music or music services) do not contribute to this total, and cannot be modified in the Sonos app.
I hope this helps.
Thank you for your reply, but my first question was : Is the number of “Sonos playlists” limited as it seems to be (some tens) ?
My second question was : If I modify an “imported playlist”, may I save (register) it after modification and if yes how to proceed ?
Regards.
Hi
I answered both of your questions in my previous reply.
- 10,000 items total in all playlists (so max 5,000 playlists if each playlist consists of 2 items, or 1,000 playlists if each consists of 10 items)
- No. Non-Sonos Playlists must be edited in a third-party app, whether they are located on a service or on local storage.
I hope this helps.
My second question was : If I modify an “imported playlist”, may I save (register) it after modification and if yes how to proceed ?
You can no longer add an imported playlist to the queue (or any music afaict), make changes in the queue and save this as a new Sonos playlist with the mobile Sonos app. At least you can’t in iOS, I don’t know about Android
Sonos took this feature away 12 months ago and hasn’t put it back. It’s probably gone for good unfortunately.
But you can do this with Sonos desktop app. I don’t know why the moderator says you can’t do this, maybe they dont use the desktop app.
There’s also an iOS app called Phonos+ that is useful to access your Sonos playlists when they randomly disappear from the app from time to time
Hi
To clarify, it has never been possible to edit and save either a music service playlist or a Music Library imported playlist in any of the Sonos apps, at any time.
It used to be possible, as
I can, if you like, tag this thread as a feature request to have a button added which saves the current queue as a Sonos playlist - I also disagree with
I hope this helps.
Thanks a lot.
Hi
Thank you - I've marked this thread as a feature request and it will be seen by the relevant teams for consideration. Keep the ideas coming!

Not true. You can add tracks to music service playlists in the Desktop app and have been able to since at least the S1/S2 split. I don’t recall if the old mobile app could.

Add Song to Spotify Playlist
Hi
You are correct - I was forgetting that some services do have the integration of adding to service playlists. Thanks!
I wouldn’t quite call this full editing, but changes to the playlist are made, so it is indeed editing.
Thanks for answers.
