To better understand what’s going on, kindly submit a diagnostic report through the Sonos app when the issue occurs, and reply with the confirmation number. I'd start by reviewing your system, it will help in identifying what's possibly causing the issue.
For reference, here is our support article about streaming podcasts from your computer.
I’m looking forward to assisting you further from here.

Thank you for your message. I’ve submitted a diagnosis report, ending in 0619
i believe the reason Sonos no longer plays podcasts is due to the file location moving, under Big Sur upgrade - this is from Mac support.
thank you & stay safe

Hi Support,
Can I please have an update, on your progress and timescale for a fix?
Thank you & stay safe
Richard
Hi @Rich_.
Thanks for your response.
With the release of Catalina and removal of podcasts from Music ( Formerly iTunes) that podcasts are no longer directly supported with the music library.
There are suggested workarounds and one of these is to manually add podcasts to the music library shared folder.
This can be best discussed with our phone support, you can give us a call and work with a technician live, to expedite the process. They have resources available for advanced troubleshooting, and the tools our agents can use would be very useful in this case, there can be an advantage if they need to remote into the controller to see what's going on.
When calling, you can help us by also having a Mac or Windows computer available so we have the option to perform any hands-on troubleshooting and testing as needed.
If you have any questions, please feel free to let us know, we are always here to help.
Hi Annabel,
Thank you for your reply. Can you please, detailed in writing the instructions - to enable me to play Podcasts using Mac with Big Sur? (I’ve already spent an hour on a call with your support desk, without success. In the day I’m working & crowd control/childcare at other times...)
As you know are able to replicate & understand the issue - when will you be able to fix Sonos S1 app to play podcasts?
Thank you
Richard
Hi @Rich_.
We appreciate your response and feedback, sorry to hear about the experience.
You can browse and play podcasts using Radio by TuneIn, Pocket Casts, and other music services that support podcasts.
You can also download podcasts to your computer or mobile device and stream them directly to Sonos.
Sonos can play podcasts that have been downloaded to your computer.
- Share the folder where the podcasts reside with Sonos.
- In the Sonos app, go to Music Library > Artist if the metadata is supplied (not all podcasts do this).
- Podcasts may also be accessed by going to Music Library > Genre > Podcasts.
- If your podcasts do not show up in either location, go to Music Library > Folder to browse the shared folder directly.
- Each time you download a new podcast, you must re-index your music share to update the Sonos music library.
You may also check this support article to find more ways to stream podcasts on Sonos.

Thank you, for your reply.
Can you please explain, your first point - ‘how i share, the folder where Podcasts reside?’
I’ve used the Apple Podcast App, to download podcasts & refreshed the Sonos Index. No Podcasts are available to be played via Sonos player..
Will Sonos be making an updated & releasing an updated app - to allow us to play podcasts on sonos?
Stay safe
Richard
