I thought to share what has been a complete solution to my MacBook woes of getting Sonos S2 to stay connected to my library.

Obviously I checked all network sharing etc etc but some times it would connect, sometimes it would drop out and refuse to reconnect.

In frustration I removed the Sonos app, downloaded and installed fresh - no improvement.

Solution:

  1. Remove the app completely using an app removal tool - I used App Cleaner (free)
  2. Re load the app as a fresh install
  3. Follow instructions on identifying where your library can be found (Music on my machine)
  4. It works and stays working !

I think some data file is created during install that hangs around messing up the system that needs to be got rid of and a fresh install create a new one.   Works for me on Sequoia 15.5

Hi @Pops Bengo, welcome to the Sonos Community!

I’m sorry to hear that you were having issues with the desktop controller on Mac.

Your music library not showing would most likely be down to fire share settings or the network share itself. I would assume something you did in step three of your solution helped rather than a fresh install of the app, however I’m glad to hear it’s working for you now and you can play from your music library. If anyone else has the same issue, then I hope your steps help them resolve the issue as well.

If it does happen again, I would suggest submitting a diagnostics when the music library fails to connect or drop out, then contacting our support team for further support. They have the necessary tools available to look into your system and help troubleshoot the issue.

Nope, it’s not something else.  It was most certainly the fresh install, nothing else was adjusted and all settings remained the same as those I had already made.

This is a well known problem and been going on for far too long.
