There has already been requests here in the community for Sonos app Live Activities feature. I’d be happy to have it as well. Having Sonos Ray for TV together with Era 300 (as a stereo pair) means I need to use my phone to control the volume for the both. Live Activities would make the process much easier.

Samsung One remote connects to Ray only with IR (when connected to optical cable.)

Does anyone here have another solution to control the volume without unlocking my phone?

@MikkoW

Are your Era 300s not set up as surrounds for your Ray? Usually if you just group a Sonos soundbar with a Sonos stereo pair, it introduces a 75ms delay, and a slight echo. Are you deliberately keeping your Era 300s as non-surround speakers?

Separately, in answer to your question - you can get a small audio extractor so you can plug your Ray into your TV’s HDMI-ARC or eARC port. (HDMI from TV to extractor, and optical from extractor to Ray). That way, and provided you also enable Anytime+ in the Samsung TV’s settings, you can better use your Samsung TV remote to turn the Ray’s volume up and down. Just search for “PROZOR HDMI ARC Audio Extractor 5.1CH – HDMI ARC to Optical SPDIF RCA L/R 3.5mm 2.0CH Audio Converter”. Unless I am misunderstanding your needs??

Era 300 cannot be used as surrounds with the Ray.

Thanks once again, Mr T! (Does the T stand for ‘tolerant’..?)

Sonos Voice Control installed on an Era 300 would be able to control the group volume.

Ray is gen 2, so no Era surround.
Using Era only for some movies, mostly for Apple Music.

Samsung one remote is controlling Ray with IR. The problem is Era+sub mini control. Especially late night movies sometimes “explode” in the middle of the film - for neighbours sake would be good to mute TV asap 😄

I am an old school type and read person, but will try the voice control. Thank you all for the suggestions !

@MikkoW For future reference. There’s only one generation of the Sonos Ray, I think, so how is yours a “gen 2”?

Good point, rallye.
I thought of hardware gen, not the model version.
In this case, gen 1, older hardware than Era.

Keep things simple. There’s no need to interject terms of Gen1 or Gen 2 in your post given the Sonos equipment you have.
