Today’s latest app update includes the following:

  • Improvements to setup flow
  • Added ability to set appearance between light mode/dark mode/system default
  • Improved queue management including ability to reorder, delete individual items, and scroll
  • Improved performance when browsing content in Home and in Browse
  • Continued improvements to user interface
  • Added Trueplay support for iOS18

BUT (per the bolded point) I can’t delete any tracks from a queue, either before playing a playlist or when the playlist is playing (i.e. becomes a queue). I can reorder songs now but I can’t see any option to delete a track from the queue.

Am I missing something?

It works for me (on iPad) by swiping left on a track.

iPhone app is crap. Now it won’t even load. Launch the app it starts it crashes. I’ve never had such a useless poorly developed piece of crap before.

These developers don’t even know what they’re doing or how to develop anything that just works!

Thanks. That works - appreciated.

But in terms of being intuitive, why not make it an option on the three dots too?? Three dots shows some queue management options but swiping actions another!

From a queue I can re-order by holding and moving, and delete by swiping left. This is on an iPhone running the now ancient iOS 17.7. I think it would be a little more intuitive to have added delete song when you press the three dots by the side of a track too.

Still missing playlist functionality, and no sign of a speaker firmware fix for the mess that is artist different to album artist…

So small signs of progress…

Swiping left is as intuitive as it is in the 16.1 app :)

It also doesn’t have it under …

However, the 16.1 has Clear, Edit, Save options directly visible. Pressing Edit takes the queue into edit mode and brings the iOS style - icon on the left to delete. (Which isn’t that great either)

I hope one day there will be an improved version where you can mark multiple items at one go and then press Delete to remove them. Swiping left multiple times is a bit cumbersome.

I see a big improvement in performance when browsing (just wish the play/shuffle buttons were a little more responsive in the MSP’s like Amazon & Apple Music).

Nice that we can now edit (drag/drop) and delete (swipe left) each track in the room queue.👍

I guess saving the queue as a Sonos playlist is still to be implemented.

The App startup time seems to be much quicker in my own case too.

I had looked on the Apple App Store last night for an update and there wasn’t any.

Went back this morning after reading this post and yep there was an update for the app. Downloaded it and now the app for iOS is loading and playing my music.

i don’t know about a bunch of feature enhancements I think the focus should be to keep the stability of the app a priority.

i have to say I’ve already started researching alternatives to my Sonos system. It won’t take very much of this kind of instability for me to dump Sonos.

Queue still does not follow the music progress.  This is the very basics of control point functionality.  Still no local library album art in the queue.  As far as the ability to move tracks in the queue I wish that was only available after selecting the missing choice “Edit”; to easy to accidentally move a track.  Also where is Save?  Is Sonos abandoning Sonos Playlists.

The fact that they will communicate on Reddit but not here demonstrates how little respect they have for the users.

At the current rate of progress I’m not sure we’ll have an app with all the features restored by Christmas.

Way more eyeballs on Reddit. Also posters there are more upset it seems (just my observation not saying as fact) and the moderators don’t ban angry posters like they do here so it probably requires more effort on their part, in my opinion.

As per Reddit though, the September 24 Android release will not have the same features as today’s iOS release.

Here on Sonos Community, they are just editing this old post, so it ends up that nobody sees when there's new info:

I've installed the new version 80.09.05 on my iPhone and iPad Pro (4 devices running iOS 18).

Sonos Favorites are no longer displayed and the following error message appears: “Unable to load content”. It's also impossible to create new favorites.

If I use the Windows application, the favorites appear and I can create new ones or delete them.

Are you also experiencing this problem ?

I think today’s app update is certainly a step in the right direction.  Being able to delete individual songs and change their order is a big deal and very much appreciated, now if only I could save and name it to make a playlist I would be a happy camper.  Seriously this is all I want because I found that playing songs from my local library doesn’t sound as good as streaming from Apple Music so I just stream my favorite sons/albums.  Currently I can only save about 12 albums and 51  songs under favorites and Sonos says its full. I believe when they release an update to add saving to playlists or albums it should correct this limitation.  Do you think the next update will include the save feature?  A response from a Sonos team member would be most welcome.

I’m sure all the new bells and whistles are great, but I bought SONOS to PLAY MY MUSIC. Still getting “access denied” to MY local library on a computer I own. I’ve spent hours with tech. No solutions. Yesterday it worked. Today local library gone. I can use services like Spotify and Sirius. But can’t PLAY MY MUSIC. I still use iTunes via bluetooth.

I’m not sure what the tech people are thinking. I don’t need SONOS to wake me up. Nice feature I’m sure. I just want to PLAY MY MUSIC. Shouldn’t this be a priority after ALL OF THESE MONTHS?

FYI. I’ve talked to support. Checked all of my share settings along with contacting Apple. (Multiple times). No problems with any other apps. I used to be able to click on the plus sign and connect to may local library (maybe it was 20th century tech instead of 21st). This is all SONOS.

Please focus on being able to PLAY MUSIC. Bells and whistles should be secondary. In my opinion I think playing music is what most people bought this for.

Please don’t leave me a link on connecting to my library. I’VE DONE IT SEVERAL TIMES!

If Spotify is working then surely you can listen to music that way?

Moving and deleting tracks in queue added back to the app is welcome. Some queue suggestions to improve the experience:

Focus follows current playing track (imo most important)

Multi select for delete

From context menu in queue

- Play Now

- Move to next in queue

-remove release

-add to Sonos playlist/favourite

-start artist/album radio

Browse:

Artist

Album Artist(s)

Album

Genre

Year

Links to artist on my other music services/local library

With this most recent app update I am unable to see the ‘Network’ information for each speaker, that shows the Frequency, Channel, SNR, Connection strength, etc. Did anyone else notice this??

I have one Move in my system and I am able to see Network information for that device but not the 9 other speakers. All speakers are One SL’s & one Sub. All speakers are on WiFi and not Sonosnet with no speakers connected via Ethernet cable.

I am still trying to troubleshoot speakers cutting in and out from time to time since the May application update and want to see the Network information for each speaker.

Yes.  It’s missing on my Port.  The Move still shows Nework.  The Arc still shows Network.  The bonded sub & surrounds do not show Network, but that may be expected.

Same here… the Move shows network information the rest do not … 🙄

Thanks for the reply. Yes. I can only see Network on my Move. Seems like an odd one for them to remove from the interface but alas here we are. My one SL’s are scattered around the home with only one set paired to stereo. I like to see where my SNR figures and other info when I get the random cutting out on a speaker or two,.

I’ve noticed that scrolling long lists no longer takes a couple seconds to load every 100 songs. For example adding a 306 song playlist from Apple Music, scrolling to the bottom is way quicker and no longer pauses to load (well isn’t 100% smooth but pretty close).

All updated features on iPad work as stated, including total Sonos Playlists

Interestingly, android has shown about my first 20 Sonos Playlists  since 80.07.05. Given that the info on next android update due 24/9 says its not as comprehensive as current iOS version, I anticipate a long wait for getting all my playlists back, editable and with album art restored. Can't see they will achieve the Sept deadline set in May...
