They should release Sonos App Special Anniversary Retro Limited Gold Edition to celebrate the date - visually, functionally and (most important) binary identical to the grand ole 16.1 app whom they courageously murdered 5/7/24.
Fully reliable here across 11 speakers… Instant load time. Speakers always present. Thumbnails show up. Playback and pause is immediate, on iOS, Android, and Mac. Responsive volume. Updates always complete.
What aspect of queue management remains missing?

Save queue as Sonos playlist for one.
@Gaham This is what Sonos said about the new app. As a long time owner I didn’t think they would lie about what they were doing and updated right away.
“How will this affect my system?
We've taken great care to ensure that this update only enhances your Sonos experience. Your products, features, and services will work as they always have, and all your settings will be saved.
What new features does the update include?
We'll reveal more details when the update is available.”

For a start, when I have a queue playing I cannot see what song will play next without paging down to find the currently playing song. That is such a basic requirement I don't know:
- Why it was missed on this day last year
- Why it remains missing a year later
I accept that the system is stable for some but my experience is, Sonos with13 speakers was rock solid on 6th May 2024 and before but has had recurring issues since 7th May 2024. Various network tweaks alleviate the problems for a while but they come back requiring further network tweaks.
The simplicity and reliability that built the Sonos brand is gone.

Well the new feature turned out to be support for the Sonos Ace not sure how the current experience can be called “enhanced”.
My experience across seven speakers is still truly awful! They regularly disappear from the app. They often show up as being in the app but are not controllable or responsive, volume takes forever to respond probably because all commands are being sent via the cloud? I have no idea why this is still so unreliable.
I regularly have to reboot my router and access points just to get my speakers to show up. No other devices in my entire 45+ IOT device network gives me any kind of grief like the speakers continue to do. It is utterly random as to when they will drop out and how long it will take them to come back. I am now regularly a joke at our parties where I walk around the house unplugging and re-plugging in all of my speakers just to get multi room audio functioning again.
Is it slightly better than it was a year ago?
Maybe but is it anywhere near as functional as it was two years ago?
Definitely not.
This morning I spent nearly 30 minutes having to unplug reboot and patiently wait for the speakers to come back into the app for what would appear to be no reason whatsoever. They just disappear and a non-controllable.
My speakers have gone from being one of the favourite things I owned to the thing that gives me the most grief and stress out of every device I own. I truly hate Sonos now and I guarantee them I will never ever buy another one of their products.
I am here making this post right now because I had to google the phrase: “It’s been a year Is the Sonos app working yet/sonos app still broken 2025”
Is it fixed yet? For me it is most assuredly not. It’s not even close to where it was before this fiasco as far as my experience is concerned.
Again it should be noted that across all my other IoT devices like doorbells, lights, CCTV, TVs etc not one of them has given me any problem whatsoever. The speakers all remain unreliable and inconsistent and my experience of them is now so poor Sonos will never ever see another cent of my money.
