I’m having issues updating alarms in Sonos. I can open and delete and I can also create a new alarm as long as I don’t make any changes to it, but the moment I change the time, repeat and sound it doesn’t save.

The app is up to date and I’ve tried restarting my phone, (Galaxy A40), resetting the app, reinstalling it and have also turned the speaker itself (Era 100) off but so far nothing has worked.

If anyone could help I’d much appreciate it as I rely on these alarms to get ready for work in the morning and my starting hours can change on a weekly basis (hence why I need multiple).

It’s certainly not behaving as it should, in this case. I’d likely try a reset of the router, before then a power  cycle of the speaker, but if that didn’t work, I’d call Sonos Support to discuss it.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

After you talk with Sonos Tech Support and if there’s no resolution at least from the Sonos side of things you may want to consider upgrading your A40. As of June 13, 2023, Samsung declared the Galaxy A40 obsolete and stopped providing support and updates for the phone. Click the link below.

If you know someone with a newer Android phone, you can temporarily load your Sonos on to their device to see if the issue is present.

The Galaxy A490 may be end of life but it still meets the OS requirements to run the Sonos apps.

@UneasierMoon - If you have access to the desktop controller, you should be able to amend alarms using that in the meantime, until the issue is resolved on your phone.

It sounds frustrating! A few things to try:

  • Make sure your Era 100 has the latest firmware (Settings → System → System Updates).

  • Try editing/creating the alarm from another device.

  • Clear the app cache on your Galaxy A40.

  • If editing still fails, create a new alarm from scratch instead of changing an existing one.

If none of this works, it might be a bug—Sonos support can help.
