After having to throw away all of my Sonos 1 equipment, thank you very much, I was stupid enough to buy another Sonos system because I couldn’t find any competitor. It started out mediocre, at best, but then the update from hell happened. It still takes two or three tries to connect, constantly losing connection, etc. Is there any remedy in sight, or should I just chuck the whole thing again and go back to transiters and a coat hanger?
Can you list what speakers you have and what your network consists of? This will help others help you enjoy your system again.

And yes, Sonos 1 speaker systems do not work with Sonos 2. Well known fact.
Oddly, I have both Sonos PLAY:1 and Sonos One speakers running without issue on Sonos S2. But I’ve never heard of a Sonos 1 speaker, so I can’t address that.
My guess is a local configuration error, but there simply isn’t enough information provided to be certain. I would certainly encourage a call to Sonos Support directly to discuss it.
When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
I think, in light of your attitude, your best option is indeed to “chuck the whole thing”.
There are some older Sonos devices that are S1 only, yes. They do not group with S2 devices. If you’d wanted that you could have sold the older devices instead of throwing them away. They still work and are updated by Sonos.
