I found a quick solution to play my IPod Video generation 5 through Sonos. I purchased an inexpensive 30pin to usb connection at Amazon. I connected it through the USB port of my TV that is connected to Sonos. Not only am I able to play my iPod through my entire Sonos system, I can visually see the content on the television if I prefer. Since I have an LG TV, I was able to download the remote app on my phone, therefore I can forward, pause, and play away from the room.
