Hi!

I am trying to find a way to play a web stream which is in flac. I’ve read that it is distributed in some sort of ogg container. According to this article tunein in Sonos does not explicitly support flac: Add an Internet radio station to Sonos | Sonos

Is there a way to play flac web streams in Sonos? The link I am trying to play is this one from the Swedish public radio:

edge2.sr.se/p2-flac

Hi @PerA

As far as I know, there isn’t any other way to directly add web streams to Sonos, with the only way being the method in the support article you linked above. You don’t have any Bluetooth speakers listed on your profile, but streaming via Bluetooth or Airplay would be a way to get the web stream to play on Sonos.

I hope this helps!

You can add radio stream to Sonos in a round about way by adding it as a favourite in the Tunein app. If you have a Tunein account you can sign in on Sonos and your favourites will show up there in tunein

The stream starts, then stops repeatedly. So no success on Sonos. I also have a Wiim pro and it plays the stream from tunein fine. No idea what the issue is with Sonos.

Thanks for your feedback! Bluetooth and AirPlay is an option and I also have a chrome cast audio that I can cast to and feed to the line in on my connect but it would be so nice to have the flac stream implemented in the Sonos interface. I guess I will have to hope and wait for TuneIn to fully support flac streams.

Compare the stream to these supported formats:

Thanks! Is there a way to find out what the stream consists of, like a tool? All I know for sure is that it comes from the address I cited above.

VLC is my go-to tool for media decoding and playback.

According to codec details in VLC the flax stream is 32 bit. That might be the reason it does not work in the TuneIn/Sonos environment.
