I’ve posted on here previously about issues I’ve had when accessing Apple Music using my Sonos Connect.

Since I last posted things have only got worse with connection being lost, errors relating to file format, tracks cutting out or not even starting.  Restarting my Sonos Connect seemed to help but fairly soon all the problems came back.

I recently made the decision to embark on the Qobuz journey and took a 30 day free account option.

Over the last week I’ve tested Qobuz stream using my Sonos Connect A LOT!   I haven’t had any problems using Qobuz whatsoever.

That’s not quite true as I had one album where tracks were skipped.  I diagnosed this as a rights problem because it was a movie soundtrack - it was Paris, Texas by Ry Cooder.

I’ll still keep my Apple Music subscription because I buy CDs - in order to benefit the artists more (I hope) but I’ll keep this in sync with Qobuz using Soundiiz.

First time I’ve been happy with my Sonos kit in ages.

What did Sonos Support say, when you called in with these issues on your CONNECT? Which, in electronics terms, is a fairly ancient device. Still, it sounds like (without much data) bandwidth issues, either between your CONNECT and the Apple server, or possibly your CONNECT and your individual speakers, via your LAN.

It was some while ago that I contacted support.  These problems have been happening for 4 or 5 years.  If I recall correctly the advice was to reboot everything.  This helped a little but the improvements didn’t persist.  I agree that the CONNECT is now fairly ancient tech but nothing I’ve read about the PORT makes me think it’ll be any different - and I’m not going to buy one just to check.  The connection from my CONNECT is wired, not wireless.

As for bandwidth being the problem, my internet is pretty quick.  400Mbps which doesn’t drop much - maybe down to 250Mbps on occasions.  The issue is, I believe, between my CONNECT and the Apple server - but not necessarily a bandwidth issue.  Why I got the errors I have no idea.  
 

There are many posts on this forum regarding this issue  - none have a definitive solution.  Happy to be proved wrong on this.
