Hello everyone,

Since switching to the new version of the application, I no longer see my music library hosted on my Synology NAS. I know that I am on my network, since I can listen to music from the history, but impossible to navigate, no more search button (apart from the one that suggests searching through services that I don't have and don't want).
Should I add sharing through a service addition (I saw a Plex service, I expected to find a Synology SMB Share service or something similar but nothing)?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Hi @MaitreNicodeme, you’ve not doubt gathered that lots of people are having issues with local library music. Two ideas for you ...

  1. Check that your Synology NAS is using SMBv2 and/or SMBv3. Sonos no longer supports SMBv1, so that could be your issue.
  2. The Windows and Mac Desktop apps are more stable than the mobile apps. So try installing one of the desktop apps and using that to add your local library music.

… hope that helps you get up and running again!

Hi :)

Thanks for your response. I already have installed the PC version to add / update my local library. But I dont want to power on my PC to listen Music on my Sonos system…

If I cant do it from my phone, where is the interest of Sonos products ? And why a such change in the app ?! I cant use my products anymore…

With you 100% @MaitreNicodeme, I was only suggesting the Windows Desktop app to add your local library … after which your local library should work in the mobile apps. It sounds like your local library does work in the Windows Desktop app? But not in the iOS/Android app?

My library works from the iOS app. I can listen to music. But only the one which, historically, was the last one in progress on the selected speaker. I can't browse my library, I can't see it within the application.

I have a Synology NAS that use for my local library. I have been using my desktop to edit and update my library. After that I just fully close the app and reopen. All the changes are there that I made with the PC.

Have you done what @press250 suggested and change your file sharing protocol from SMB v1 to SMB v2 or 3?

Hi and thanks for your response. Yes, my NAS is already configured in SMB3, compatible up to SMB1. I cant see my library as a service in which I can research...

Its no longer listed as a service. It is now in “Your Sources” located below “Your Services”.

On my phone it shows Line In, My Library and TV.

THAT is the problem 🙂 I dont have the ‘Your sources’ menu… How have you get it ?
I dont have the menu ‘Library’ or equivalent in Settings anymore...

I don't like this idea but I'm wondering if I should reset the application and re-configure the library to recover its display. But since I don't see the menu corresponding to adding a library in the settings, I'm holding back...

Unfortunately, the library management functions are only available on the PC/Mac app.

You need to download the PC or Mac app from here:

https://support.sonos.com/en-us/downloads

Add your library, then restart the mobile app.  If it still doesn’t show, reset the mobile app, restart, and choose to connect to an existing system.

You should not have to reconfigure your library. My library connected automatically with the new app. Give resetting the app a try.

Okay, that's it, I regained access to my local library on the mobile application. I'll explain for those who are in the same situation.
I accepted the update of the application on the PC (praying...). As expected, all my library settings were blown, but not those relating to the speakers...
At the same time, I deleted the mobile app on my phone and re-downloaded it.
I added my NAS directory from the PC to the library. After some time, it was accepted.
I went to the mobile app, asked to connect to an existing system. It asked me for my user/pwd and I found myself on the application home page. I saw an item 'Your sources' which references the music library. OK, I can’t search through it, but I can navigate throught it.
On the other hand, something completely mind-blowing, the mobile application requests access to the location. If it is prohibited, the 'Your sources' item disappears, and the music library with it. Great...

I don’t see an option to manage my “music library” under “your services” or “your sources” option.  Why would I need to use the windows or mac client to manage my library when I could manage from the iOS app directly before.  Is this capability ever coming back?  How do I add a network location via the iOS sonos app like I could before?

PLEASE don’t ask about SMB v.x - running smb v.2 and have fully deprecated smb v.1…..

The release notes do not provide any level of detail to be helpful

There are not any. And I never said there was one. The 'Your sources' menu doesn't even appear, unless you accept that the application geolocates you. Completely crazy !
I completely agree with you, I don't like the current situation. Releasing a new application which, at a minimum, does not provide the same functionalities as the previous one, we call that regression. And that doesn't satisfy me.

I was just giving instructions, being the one who asked the question in the initial post and having solved my immediate problem. I absolutely do not agree with what Sonos has (or has not) implemented in this new version of the application!

Thanks for the follow-up.  I do have location services enabled when using sonos - I even turned it off and selected the prompt to ask when I use the app again - it prompted and I allowed it access when using the app - still don’t see my option for my library.

As mentioned by others - very poor implementation that requires sonos to know where I am just for me to access my local library.  That is the point of joining my managed network / subnet / authenticated.  Though I don’t see how to change network settings either after the update via the sonos iOS app.  I see an option under home - manage - network that talks about wifi (channels / bands / settings) but no way to actually connect to local network share.  I don’t use wifi for any sonos products - I use Port and it is Ethernet connected.

can’t connect to my local library via sonos iOS app - can’t connect to my local network via sonos iOS app - don’t even see an options to do so.

Trying to update/download the app for PC. You should see/be able to configure your library there.
I know it's not satisfactory but it's the only way to do it currently.
Back in your iOS app, you should see the 'Your Resources' menu with the library. If not, delete the iOS app and redownload it.

That's how I did it anyway.

Tried every trick in the forum.

I'm sure my Synology NAS is using SMB2, changed the settings to only use SMB2.

After that, reinstalled the pad to my music folder using the Android App after deleting the old pad using de pc app.

After that I sometimes get my music library but I cant browse it without a error.

I can use it on the pc, thats still the same as earlier.

After the error in de music library, it completely disappeared in my options on the app. The only way to get it back is to reinstall the app, delete the pad again en install it again. But then always that error.

Sonos, get your s*** together.

Some users have reported issues when SMBv1 is left active on their NAS with SMBv2/3 enabled.

So if you are having problems, disable SMBv1 and reboot your NAS.
