How can I play music from my computer music files? I used to play them before the “ap” change. The old Sonos app offered the choice right there on the app. Now I have spent over an hour chasing down the so-called “instructions” to get it to “share” my files with the Sonos app with no luck at all. The instructions do not work. I can’t believe the app still hasn’t been updated to fix this. Why would this feature be taken away from us? It was one of the most convenient features for me and it is what sold me on the original Sonos system I bought 10 years ago.

Odd. I can still use my Mac’s stored files as a local library, without issue.

What kind of computer and operating system are you using? Have you reset the connection to your local library, as indicated in the controller? What did Sonos Support say, when you called in with the issue you’re experiencing?

I am running Windows 11 and I am on the same computer I used to play my music before the “app”. No problems with that. I did exactly what the information provided by the Sonos web site said to do - I did the latest set of instructions dated Feb 2025. Sonos has not reached out to me at all. I had this problem months ago and I was yelled at by Sonos - “how dare I insult their so-called “app”! We are busy fixing it!” Yeah right.

I am extremely disappointed in the Sonos company of today. It used to be plug and play whatever I wanted and now it has taken away capability for no apparent reason. I feel the app should should connect me without me having to to be a computer science major to get back what worked before with just a couple of clicks on the original set up app. I have thousands of songs on my computer I want to listen to - they are free.
