How to add playlist larger than 100 songs from music library on Android?
I have searched and seen similar topics. Most relate to Amazon Music. I do not have any issues playing a Spotify playlist of more than 100 songs. If I select a playlist in my Music Library, any of the ways to get music into the queue results in 100 songs.
I have tried the workarounds to empty the queue, add one song and then select Play Next for the entire playlist. That does not work. Nor does any of the selections to add or play the playlist in the queue. All result in an error and/or just the first 100 songs being added.
I can scroll to the end of my playlist. The only way to play a song outside of the top 100 is to only add that song to the playlist. If I select any song beyond the top 100, it will play the 100th song.
FWIW, I have my playlists in 2 formats, iTunes and m3u. Both behave the same. I get the same behavior on all devices. I currently only have Android devices, all running the latest available app in the Google Play Store, version 80.17.09…

I use the Windows controller to create my SONOS playlists. Here is a 60000 track playlist that I have added to the Queue. Admittedly, this playlist has limited, specialized metadata (Track Titles, Composer, etc.), but as you can see, Queue and Playlists can be longer than 100 tracks.
This super large playlist existed prior to the May 2024 update. As a quick test of the current Windows controller I picked another Playlist of only 10000 tracks, added a couple tracks, and saved it as a new playlist, then replaced the Queue. As you can see, the first added track is exactly where I placed it and the other track is correctly placed at the end.
Since SONOS Playlists and the Queue reside in player memory and all of my players are recent, dealing with SONOS Playlists and a Queue this large may not be practical on old players with more limited memory.

Thanks for the reply. I only have Android devices to play from my Sonos. I am trying to play an m3u or iTunes playlist from my network music library. I cannot get all of the songs into the queue to even be able to save it as a Sonos playlist..

We are aware of an issue whereby Music Library playlists of over 100 items will not load to the queue or play, and we are investigating this issue. We have no estimate for when a fix might be made available, but I will update this thread when I hear of a fix being put in place.
In the meantime, please either use playlists under 100 items, or use a different controller to load them.

Please let me know if I can help. I have this issue on all the Android devices I have tried (Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+, Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Ultra). I am not sure if the issue extends to other platforms.

The issue seems to be 100% reproducible (when the playlist is over 100 items), so I assume we do not need to collect further data from affected customers.
As far as I am aware, it is affecting only Android.

Corry P this is also an iOs issue. As of 2-3 updates ago, my music library playlists (through iTunes) are limited to 100 tracks. I can use the desktop app and get my full playlist (my primary playlist is app. 5000 songs). This only became an issue in the past 4-6 weeks. I submitted a ticket a few weeks ago and was told it was a known issue.
Adding playlist to queue on iphone app limits to 100 songs. I can add same playlist from desktop and whole playlist gets added.
I only use playlists from a local music library. My largest playlist is about 1000 titles. The best workaround for me is:
Use the Windows Controller App.
Select the playlist from the library and play it. It should replace the current queue.
Select ‘Save Queue” in the middle of the controller app (below the current queue).
Save the list as a ‘Sonos Playlist’ that can handle more than /SarcasmOn “this incredible high number of” /SarcasmOff 100 songs.
Dear Sonos-Devs, lesser workarounds with my Sonos products would make me happier :)

How is that Sonos does not know it also affects Apple. It has been an issue for a while. there was a workaround in adding the playlist again to the end of the queue but the latest release has wrecked that work around without fixing the original issue. Does Sonos do any user testing before releasing new versions bc it doesnt feel like it. One feature i would like is to be able to switch off the updates which seem to be mandatory.

Apologies - that may have simply been my error there. I don’t see any mention of Android-only in what I have access to. Please also note that I said “I” and not “we”.
To prevent updates, you need to both prevent automatic updates in the app for the system, but also prevent automatic updates to the app from your App Store - if either the app or the system receive an update, it will (likely, but not always) be mandatory that the other receive the same.
If you’d prefer to check for updates manually, you can disable automatic updates in the Settings menu under General Settings » System Updates » Update Automatically.

That does help, thank you. Fixing this rather obvious bug would also help as I am gobsmacked that it got through user testing.
Honestly, it is quite unbelievable that Sonos have been aware of this issue for many, many weeks and yet still are either unable to resolve it or do not see it as being important.
Such poor customer service given the fiasco following the introduction of this version of the app.

We now believe that this issue was resolved with the latest update. Please check your playlists, but also be aware that the update is being released as a phased rollout and you may not get the latest version until Monday next week, at the latest.

@Corry P the latest update does allow for playlists larger than 100 songs from the music library but nothing shows in the queue. The header of the queue shows the number of songs. Below that is just blank. Hoping this can be addressed.

Sorry to hear of this issue you are having with a playlist loading a blank queue.
I recommend force-closing the app and re-opening it again.
If that has not improved matters for you, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.
