Help: Make Play:1 and Symfonisk Always Group Together

Hi, I have two speakers: a Play:1 (wired to my router) and a Symfonisk Bookshelf (wireless). Both are on the same Sonos system and I can group them manually, but I want them to always play together by default, whether I start music from the Sonos app or the Spotify app on iPhone.

 

I’ve tried looking for the “Group on Autoplay” or “Group with…” options in Settings, but I can’t find them in the current Sonos app. Can someone explain the exact steps in the latest app to make grouping persistent, or confirm if this feature has changed/been removed?

There is a tool for this called Zones. Unfortunately it does not work with Older speakers such as the Play 1 or any Symfonisk speakers.  Your only solution is grouping which you are already doing.

Have you tried Settings - Groups - Create Group?

Or go to Settings - [Room with Play:1] - Set Up Zone.

Play:1 and Symfonisk are not supported products for Zones.

There is a tool for this called Zones. Unfortunately it does not work with Older speakers such as the Play 1 or any Symfonisk speakers.  Your only solution is grouping which you are already doing.

I have and it didn’t work. 

I don’t have “Set up Zone” showing in my Sonos app.

I’ve came across this thread and followed the steps including restarting router, speakers and finally iPhone but it didn’t help. Neither did turning on “Group Non-Airplay Products” which I already had on.

Thread I’m referring to: Playing via AirPlay does not play through all speakers in group

Why did it work for this guy and it won’t for me even though the same speakers are involved?

Airplay is an Apple specific method of playing to external devices like speakers or headphones.  Spotify Connect is a Spotify specific way of playing to external devices like speakers or headphones.   Both have different ways of accomplishing the same thing.

If you are playing through the Spotify app, you may be using Spotify Connect rather than Airplay.  Grouping rooms have different requirements/results depending on what method you are using.

Not sure, I don’t use either.  But I imagine it’s a question for Spotify.
