Free ad-free radio

I am used to stream the local national radio stations - for witch we already pay concessions - listen add-free. But with sonos I allways have adds when starting up the radio stations. In general the software interface from Sonos is Not Open for normal radio streams.

Hi @Feelings

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

We do not inject ads - if you are hearing them, they are likely from TuneIn. You can try other radio aggregator services (myTuner, Radioplayer, and others), or add a custom URL to your preferred station, as @Airgetlam describes.

I hope this helps.

Do these concessions you already pay go to Sonos, or the streaming company you use on Sonos, in order to support them? Or do they only go to the station itself, which may choose to include ad free streaming as part of their stream?

If the latter, and if it is an appropriate type of internet feed, you could set it up as your own stream, rather than using a collateral who has to pay operating costs to maintain their systems, by following the instructions in the setting up an internet radio station FAQ.

Hello and thanks for the answers,

It is working now with the solution by Bruce. Even I do not like that it is done by a thirth party implementation. From my point of view it should be possible to integrate the URL directly in the tools from Sonos - as it was implemented in an earlier version of the desktop app from Sonos. I do not know why this implentation has been taken out -  In Version: 16.7 (Build 84163110) there is no more menue point to add url directly.

Regards, René
