Can someone point me to the statement with Sonos says they don’t force updates because without updating I can’t access my system to use any other functionality and updates are turned off if this is true that they don’t force updates. This is a miss representation and other actions need to be taken against Sonos

There is a setting in the app to turn Auto Update on or off for your speakers. However, the app and the speakers need to be in sync, so you must also be sure not to update the app controller. If one is updated, you must update the other. 


You also need to check your controller device's settings to insure the app is not  being updated by the device's update function.

Yup this. And do this on every device you have the Sonos app signed in on, including other family members. 


And beware of new controllers added as well as guests who you give access as they won't get your version of the app but the latest.

No supported way of going back versions on the app and no way at all on the players.
