Hello,

I recently decided to digitalize my CD collection in FLAC, and replace the library of MP3s I had.
I never experienced any problems with playing MP3s on my different Sonos devices, either directly from the Library, or with Plex inside Sonos app.
Also sometimes I play from the Symfonium App (linked to the Plex library) and Cast on Sonos devices.

My setups are:

Main Room: ARC + 2 Era 300 + Sub
Bedroom: IKEA SYMFONISK Lamp
Bathroom: Sonos 1

But since I want to play FLACs i experienced different behaviour depending on the devices i want to play those files.

I’ve made some tests with the same track: FLAC, 44,1khz, 16bit, 940kb/s

Here are the Results:

Bathroom (1 Sonos 1) :
- Symfonium, File from Plex Library : OK, plays perfectly
- Symfonium, File locally on phone: OK, plays perfectly
- Symfonium, Jellyfin : OK, plays perfectly
- Sonos app, Plex: OK, plays perfectly

Bedroom (1 IKEA SYMFONISK Lamp) :
- Symfonium, File from Plex Library : OK, plays perfectly
- Symfonium, File locally on phone: OK, plays perfectly
- Symfonium, Jellyfin : OK, plays perfectly
- Sonos app, Plex: OK, plays perfectly

Main Room (ARC + 2 Era 300 + Sub) :
- Symfonium, File from Plex Library : Buffer, plays 1sec, skip
- Symfonium, File locally on phone: Buffer, plays 1sec, skip
- Symfonium, Jellyfin : Buffer, plays 1sec, skip
- Sonos app, Plex: Buffer, plays 1sec, skip

I’ve then decided to Degroup the ARC, the 2 ERAs and the Sub and make new tests:

ERA 300 #1 :
- Symfonium, File from Plex Library : OK, plays perfectly
- Symfonium, File locally on phone: OK, plays perfectly
- Symfonium, Jellyfin : OK, plays perfectly
- Sonos app, Plex: OK, plays perfectly

ERA 300 #2 :
- Symfonium, File from Plex Library : OK, plays perfectly
- Symfonium, File locally on phone: OK, plays perfectly
- Symfonium, Jellyfin : OK, plays perfectly
- Sonos app, Plex: OK, plays perfectly

I decided to regroup both ERA in a Stereo Pair, and test it again:

ERA 300 #1 and ERA 300 #2 as Stereo Pair:

- Symfonium, File from Plex Library : OK, plays perfectly
- Symfonium, File locally on phone: OK, plays perfectly
- Symfonium, Jellyfin : OK, plays perfectly
- Sonos app, Plex: OK, plays perfectly

The last test I needed to do was to play the FLAC with the ARC alone:

ARC:

- Symfonium, File from Plex Library : Buffer, plays 1sec, skip
- Symfonium, File locally on phone: Buffer, plays 1sec, skip
- Symfonium, Jellyfin : Buffer, plays 1sec, skip
- Sonos app, Plex: Buffer, plays 1sec, skip

Unfortunately, I have the exact same behaviour as when it was grouped with the ERAs 300 and the Sub, so everything seem to tell me that the problem comes from the ARC.
Last detail, the ARC is connected to my network’s Wifi, not Ethernet.
I also have zero problems playing TRUE HD Atmos Movies with the ARC + 2 ERA 300 + Sub setup.

So I’m really wondering what could be the problem here.

I’d love to have your feedback guys. Thanks in advance.

Seen a few similar posts no solution so I'd call support

I would try direct file playback via a file share / local library, to remove Plex and Symphonium from the equation. (And Sonos Support will likely ask the same).

Hi, thanks for your replies.

After I ungrouped the ARC + ERAs + Sub, and doing my tests, I regrouped everything, and tried to direct play from my library with the Sonos App.

And... It played fine!

As you can imagine, my next test was to retry from the Symfonium App (Plex Server), and... It played perfectly as well.

I have no explanation beside the fact that I u grouped, and regrouped again the Sonos devices.…

Do you guys have ever experienced something similar?
