Hi,
I recently bought an LG Oled G4 and a Sonos Beam Gen2.
Bar is connected trough hdmi earc port.
When playing some hbo max content in dolby atmos, I only get Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 label in sonos app, but not Dolby Atmos.
Also,I notice that I need to set the volumen around 40-50, it iis lower than other entries.
I am using the streaming apps in webOS, not third party devices.
what I am doing wrong?

Make sure the Digital Sound Output setting on the TV is set to Pass Through.
If you have Max bundled through the TV company, then you likely do not have the “Ultimate Ad-Free” plan.
Also, you have to be playing the ORIGINAL language audio track to get Dolby Atmos audio.
Max only has Atmos in the top level Ultimate Ad-Free plan.
OMG some findings here:
made some tests with several platforms:
netflix, Max,Disney and Apple TV +.
netflix: I streamed “senna” that displays as Dolby Atmos in Netflix, but on sonos app it displays as Dolby Digital Plus 5.1.
however,in a spanish tv series called “asalto al banco central”, that displays dolby atmos on netflix, tv displayed a message saying “dolby vision and dolby atmos through sound bar”, and it finally displayed as dolby atmos on netflix. But it seems to be a mismatch between info on netflix and info on sonos app,for instance in stranger things 4th season episode 1 (dolby atmos on netflix but dd plus on sonos app).
apple tv + app in lg webOS: best experience so far: everything displayed as dolby atmos in the tv app,is displayed as dolby atmos in sonos app.
Disney plus and Max: I only got dd plus in best scenario. In addition,volume seems lower than in netflix and apple. I have these two subscriptions through my tv company,that bundles them in a tv pack,so may be thats the reason.
definitely it seems that the issue was the sources?

I totally confirmed as per your explanation that behaviour is correct!
Dolby Atmos only in original language in most cases,and now when it has dolby atmos,label is displayed both in the tv and in the sonos app.
I managed to get both Max and Disney Premium plans.
my only concern now is that I consider the volume low (I dont feel a wow effect or a volume that could disturb my neighbours), as it happened with my 90 euros amazon optical sound bar.
the audio from tv box is ok and hearable at around 18-20.
but when it comes to dolby atmos I need to put it at around 30 and when it comes to dolby digital plus 5.1, to around 40. Volume limit is not activated.
any ideas?
There is no standard for numerical volume displays, so comparing them between two pieces of hardware is an exercise in futility. It is also not unusual for one codec to be softer than another due to dynamic range differences. Turn it up until it sounds good to you and don’t worry what the numbers say.
