@gnahra01

Yes, I hope a mod can check the info page and support staff information.

That imo is a somewhat misleading information. Of course in general there is lossless content up to 24/192 available on Apple Music, but Sonos definitely can’t play more than 24/48.

Yes I understand this completely and is part of my frustration and confusion.

As I said, I was told by Sonos today that Apple Music - when streamed through the Sonos app - will only output up to 16 bit quality.  This is consistent with what I am actually experiencing with my own setup.  I was told this is an Apple issue, not a Sonos issue.

And when using Airplay directly from the AM app to the Port (i.e., bypassing the Sonos app), my understanding is that Airplay becomes the “bottleneck” as it will only output up to 16 bit.

Hi @gnahra01 @Schlumpf & @rastallp

Please be aware that the information that Apple Music will only play 16 bit audio to a Sonos system is incorrect and the agent who said it has already received feedback for doing so.

Apple Music will play 24bit audio to any Sonos player that supports it, including the Port.

In addition, it looks like the highlighted part of the picture below was copy-and-pasted from Apple Music’s own advertising copy and not adjusted for Sonos-specific playback (it should not mention a 192kHz sampling rate):

We apologise for any confusion.

I hope this helps.

thanks for the clarification @Corry P. I’m getting 24/48 as expected. Can you also solve this one?

That thread is related to a known software issue - it will take a software update to solve.

I hope this helps.

@Corry P thank you for clarifying.

May I please speak with someone at Sonos via phone or via direct chat (to not continue to spam this thread) to help me solve my specific problem (why I’m not getting 24 bit)?  I don’t want to call customer support and risk getting bad information again.

Many thanks!

Hi @gnahra01

The only way you will be able to talk to someone from Sonos about this will be by calling our technical support lines. Instead of asking what Port can deliver, instead ask why it is not delivering what it should - if the agent you speak to does not know how to find that out, the case should then be escalated to a higher level for you, in which case a call with an L2 agent will be arranged.

I hope this helps.
