I'm trying to prevent the Sonos app from taking over control of my Android volume buttons, since this prevents me from controlling media volume on my phone when my Beam/TV are on, and instead unmutes the Beam volume.

It appears this brilliant company has eliminated the ability to sever this control. I can't find any settings controls, and this Sonos community forum page is inaccurate:

Does anyone know another way? Or do we just have to wait for Sonos to fix this (at the same time they undoubtedly break five other things)?

According to Sonos tech support, uncoupling the Sonos app from my volume button control is a feature left out of the app update which engineers are still working on. Regaining control of my own phone's own volume buttons is not a "feature."

I have been working with a Sonos manager on this issue. Somehow, by playing music over Spotify, Sonos seems to have regurgitated its bug of taking over control of my phone's volume buttons on the home screen. This is good. Now it only controls them when the Sonos app is open. This remains a useful feature--IF control to enable/disable it is returned to the user. At present, Sonos has simply and inexplicably eliminated such user control.

I spoke too soon. The Sonos app is right back to totally commandeering the volume buttons on my phone, with Sonos having removed my ability to prevent this. This is not a missing feature. This is Sonos usurping control of my phone.
