I assume I'm not the only one having issues with the latest app version which when switching rooms or adding a room to the current music playing a few seconds in at least one of the speakers starts playing digitized sound that is horrendous? I have to quickly skop to the next song in fear the speaker is going to get damaged.
I’m certainly not experiencing this. Have you submitted a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and called Sonos Support to discuss it? Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.
There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.
When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
Sent diagnostics earlier. Thks
What did they say when you called in about that diagnostic you submitted?
Nothing specific to the diagnostics...we got as far as changing the channel to 11 at which point he asked me to reboot ALL the speakers by unplugging them! I can't even get to several without a ladder so I said goodnight. If I had any idea how many issues the app would have, I would have never gone done the Sonos path. Speakers are excellent, app is a POS!!!!!!!!!
Oh I left out he asked what router i have...not again?!? When I attempted to set up my first system initially it would not work. After hours of frustration I reached out to Sonos. Turns out the app won't work with at least my version of the Spectrum router. Sonos blamed Spectrum and of course Spectrum blamed Sonos. So after buying a new router I was able to get it to work. Now they are questioning the router again...just sad. For the premium the speakers are, one would expect better. But now I'm stuck dealing with issues multiple times a day...most are minor with the latest version, but still gets frustrating when you can't pause, fast forward, change volume, etc., throughout the day. I listen 4-8 hours daily. This latest issue is completely unacceptable and if/when a speaker blows is Sonos going to make it right, highly doubtful.
The challenge will always be the network for any speaker system that relies on a network. From duplicate IP address issues which can happen to wired or wireless devices, to wifi interference , the speakers always rely on the quality of the connection. Sonos is no exception, and streaming services music lends itself to showing up issues more than anything else you may have connected. It is indeed unfortunate that Sonos doesn’t have any control over the network it connects to, that would make it much more ‘reliable’.
