I purchased a Sonos system years ago, and with the S1 app rarely had any issues connecting. I recently purchased new speakers because I was constantly being reminded that the old speakers would no longer be supported. With the new speakers I needed to use the new Sonos app. Now I can almost never get a quick connection to my speakers, and often can’t connect them at all. My phone is connected to our home WiFi, I set and reset the speakers to connect to the home WiFi - and nothing. I am more than frustrated. I feel that I’ve been suckered into buying expensive new components and Sonos is letting me down. I can connect through Bluetooth - but I could have just bought less expensive Bluetooth speakers.
connection issues and app issues

It sure sounds like a local network issue, keeping the connection between your controller and the Sonos speakers from properly staying connected. I’d probably start with a fairly simple network refresh, by unplugging all Sonos devices from power, then rebooting the router. After giving the router a couple of minutes to reboot, I’d plug back in the Sonos, and give them a couple of minutes to reboot and reconnect to your system. Then, when they come back up, I’d check and apply any potential updates in the Sonos controller, and finally test.
I suspect this will clear up the issue you’re experiencing, but if it doesn’t, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, their lawyers get sensitive about GDPR.
There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.
When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
