I’ve upgrade my IPad Pro M4 to latest iPadOS 26. When trying to stream music from YouTube to Sonos system via AirPlay/Blutooth, it  get the message “Something went wrong. Tap to retry”. Tap but still doesn’t work. But if I switch back to iPad speaker, works just fine.

Having the exact same issue. Same device. Same OS. Unlikely to be Sonos fault though as other apps work fine.

Seems unusual. AirPlay 2 uses WiFi, Bluetooth uses , well, Bluetooth to communicate with the Sonos system. The error message you’re receiving suggests some sort of interference with the signal. The odd thing is all that has reportedly changed is your upgrade to the ipadOS

I’d try a couple of things. First, of course, I’d try a reboot of the iPad , just as a precaution, but I’m kind of assuming you’ve done that, several times, but being certain to shut it down completely, and not just put it to sleep is key.

Next, I’d try a simple network refresh. I’d unplug my Sonos devices from power, then reboot my router. I’d wait a couple of minutes for the router to come up, then I’d plug back in the Sonos. I’d give them a couple of minutes to boot up and reconnect before testing. One key thing is I would not factory reset anything.

If the test fails, I would submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

I’m having the same problem with an iPad and iPadOS 18.7.  I pay for YouTube so if I minimise YouTube after starting a video and then change my iPad to use AirPlay to my Sonos it works but it does stop again when I return to YouTube.

I can relate! I recently got the Sonos Move 2 and have been enjoying it for the past three weeks. However, today, I can no longer use AirPlay from YouTube (premium user). I received the same error message as you. I’ve updated both iOS and Sonos sw, and all my network settings and phone settings seem to be correct. It’s so frustrating since I’m new to the Sonos system. The Sonos app works fine or if i added youtube music into Sonos works fine.. its just the youtube app is having the problem airplaying to only to sonos.. but no problem with my other devices like tv or apple tv.

we need this fix asap or else ...

Same, since yesterday. Youtube only.

I've been toggling between the Sonos app and did a quick play within the sonos app to reestablished the speakers after youtube drops. Then refresh youtube again. It will continuously play as long u don't touch anything else within youtube or else u have to repeat the steps again. Basically, the AirPlay feature is having issues with the Sonos speakers. I think they need to work on the Sonos software again. Great speakers but sw has been the issue based on others reviews on social. Will call them on Monday and will decide if I should return these move 2 from Costco.

Why when this isn’t a Sonos issue? It’s clearly a YouTube one.

Problem solved I think.shut down iPad completely. Restarted, then turned Bluetooth off then back on.YouTube seems to be working again.

@ChickenRunner Why end your post with an implicit threat?

Having the exact same issue - whatever I try , YouTube will not connect via Sonos AirPlay - I tried this on Sonos One and Beam.  Anyone figure out a workaround ?  Who is responsible for fixing this ? Apple or Sonos?

I’d guess it’s YouTube, not Apple or Sonos.

Has anyone reported this to YouTube?  Sonos devs ?

After spending over an hour with Sonos support, the common theme they kept saying is” this is expected behavior without youtube premium music”, they even “checked with back office,” who said the same thing.

They are made aware that this is with the youtube app and not youtube music, however I purchased YouTube premium music to no avail. I sent them this thread, I sent them a video of it happening, and I sent them multiple diagnostics. I redownloaded the app, reset my router and all speakers, etc, etc.

They told me to reach out to YouTube support 🤡

Interesting since I have YouTube premium music and I am having this issue… seems like no one is willing to take accountability for this issue …

It's not YouTube because I can AirPlay to my TV and Apple TV without any issues. The only problem arises when I switch to my Sonos speakers. However, if I open the Sonos app and go back to YouTube, it reconnects, so there must be some glitches or interference. I also reset the network and reinstalled both apps. Since it will works when I toggle back and forth between the apps, I'm confident that there isn't a problem with my network nor youtube! So frustrating when u have to deal with these basics.

interesting— this worked for me, too. Just switching back to sonos then back to youtube. Thanks for the temporary fix at least

edit: this only worked once and I can’t recreate it :/

Thanks, weirdly enough this works for me also. Just switching in between the Sonos app and Youtube app gets the video to play everytime

edit: I have youtube premium and this only works for a few minutes if you leave the app before the error pops up again

Hi @TopDownTim

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Thanks for reporting. We were able to reproduce this issue and started investigating, but it seems (according to other user reports) that Google have now fixed this issue. Please ensure your YouTube app is up-to-date.

I hope this helps.

They must have finally fixed it. It has been flawless in the last few days. Hopefully, it doesn’t happen again. Thanks Sonos Team.
