Connecting Synology NAS to Sonos S1 Windows

I am using Sonos S1 on the Windows platform. I have a Synology NAS and am trying to Add a Music File to the Music Library. I did not think this was going to be difficult as it appeared to be straightforward. I have the correct SMB setting. I know the directory path for my server. I continue to get an error dialog box: “Sonos was unable to add the music folder. Please check that the path to the folder, and the username and password if needed are correct. Reasons: Access to the shared folder is denied.”

What should I do at this point?

As I recall, and you’d need to confirm with Synology, the NTML setting needs to be set as well. The two work in concert.

Since you’re using S1, the Sonos system requires SMB v1 and NTML 1 to connect to the library. You’d need to access the Synology’s settings to turn those on, if possible.

Thanks for your response. I currently have it set to:

Minimum SMB Protocol: SMB1

Maximum SMB Protocol: SMB2

I understand that Sonos S1 requires Mi set to SMB1. Unfortunately, I continued to have the same issue.

There are current threads discussing local library access on NAS although they are primarily s2 centric.

In short though use IP's not names in your share paths and/or give your Sonos user full admin rights.

Lots more discussion in the relevent thread(s)

This is one but as I said, s2 relevant:

May be of help/something to try though?
