Using the S1 app my gen 1 Connect:Amp ZP120 will often lose audio for 5 to 10 seconds while playing Spotify. It is grouped with a Play:1 which does not drop audio.

Everything is on WiFi, which is congested, however there are no issues listening to Sonos Radio, Amazon Music, PocketCasts, etc. Unfortunately I have no control or access to the WiFi set-up at my apartment.

I know there are memory issues with the gen 1 Play:5 and Spotify which is why I sold mine and went with the Connect:Amp which I already had and just needed some speakers for. Gapless playback, automix, and crossfade are all disabled in the Spotify app since I read those could lead to issues with older equipment.

I have a diagnostic report *********** run right after the audio dropped.

Is there anything I'm missing here that could fix this other than upgrading to a current generation Amp and S2 app? I've been avoiding S2 until the stability issues get sorted out.

Moderator edit: recorded and removed diagnostics

Hi @Dustin_3,

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve having intermittent audio issues with your Connect:Amp. I had a look in the diagnostics and I am seeing sync errors, however not a lot of them. What I’d recommend is that you use a different speaker, such as your Play:1, as the group coordinator (GC). In the diagnostics, the Connect:Amp is the GC, meaning it’s acting as the main player.

Generally this doesn’t matter, but due to older components having weaker hardware than newer products, it’s better for a newer product (or the product with the best connection/closest to your router) to be the GC. If you ungroup everything in the Sonos app, start playback from the Play:1, then group the Connect:Amp, this will make the Play:1 the GC and should alleviate your issues.

You’ve already done the other steps I’d mention, so if you’re still having issues, them I’d suggest contacting our support team for further assistance. They have the tools available to look into your system and troubleshoot this issue with you.

Though I still get some periodic dropouts, it is FAR better now. Thank you for your assistance. It used to be nearly every song would have a dropout but now it’s maybe once a week.
