Question

configuring different groups for alarms

I have a number of different alarms. I would like to configure transient groups for those alarms. Some alarms should group certain speakers. Other alarms should group different speakers. I can’t set up a group “beforehand” that is appropriate for all types of alarms.

it seems like there should be some sort of “select speakers to group” when setting up alarms, but strangely you can set up alarms on only one speaker at a time. And if you set up the same alarm on multiple speakers, they don’t “sync” properly.

You should be able to set an alarm on the group that is active when setting the alarm. See https://support.sonos.com/en-us/article/set-an-alarm-on-sonos . It seems you cannot set alarms to groups that do not exist when setting the alarm, so your question is a feature request.

It is a design flaw in the software that it is not possible to configure groups on alarms, rather than setting alarms using whatever group happens to have last been arranged.

Just because something you would like to see available in Sonos is not currently possible doesn’t make it a design flaw. No need to start an uproar over something that quite frankly isn’t talked about in the community to a large degree. As @106rallye stated what you are asking/wanting is a feature request.

I’m thinking you aren’t familiar with the concept of “design flaw” in regards to software.  Do you have some type of inside knowledge that tells you this feature was in the original design, but has a flawed implementation?  Or is it merely a feature that hasn’t been implemented, flawed or otherwise?
